About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy each day! Eat, drink and laugh with old and new friends. Explore!

ABOUT ME

We are an adventurous couple who are looking to make the most out of life by traveling and creating interpersonal relationships.

Each of our families hosted students and travelers in our homes from the time we were young, thus it seemed really natural for us to be curious about other cultures and the world outside of our country.

In secondary school (high school) it was our turn to become the travelers. We went on AFS and Rotary club foreign exchanges to Latin America. (Laura to Costa Rica and Aaron to Chile). It was then that we each were bitten by the travel bug! Our Spanish language skills improved and from then on we continually were looking to find the our next adventure abroad.

During university Laura spent a semester abroad in Chile and later moved to Rio de Janeiro to learn Portuguese. Aaron found himself in Panama and Costa Rica both during and after university. When Laura made the move to Panama it was only a little while before we met.

We spent another year and a half together in Panama before moving to Seattle for a year. Aaron continued his work in hospitality as a concierge at the Four Season's Seattle, and Laura spent the year in massage school. After a year in Seattle, Aaron and Laura were ready to move back to Panama. We spent the next year running another hostel in Panama City. Last October we were married in Panama where we met, and ever since we have been traveling and exploring the world.

PHILOSOPHY

We believe firmly in the concept of balance. Work to live and don't compromise the important things such as relationships. Money is important in order to maintain flexibility but hopefully it never becomes a driving force in life. Eat well but don't overindulge. Exercise, but don't be compulsive. With these things, happiness is never too far away.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are just getting into CS, but we are look forward to building a network where we can travel and host in a manner similar to that of our past exchange experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are new to CS but look forward to meeting people both through hosting and surfing.

Interests

Beside the obvious ones like travel and learning foreign languages, we both love exploring by foot. Laura enjoys exercising, while we both love to play sports such as volleyball, basketball, and frisbee (semi-competitively or just to have fun). We love to eat a variety of foods, drink a few cocktails, and enjoy the company of others. We play a lot of cards and really like other games as well. Aaron plays some guitar, and we like to watch TV series online such as Entourage, Weeds and Californication when we slow down. We love hanging out at the beach, hiking, site seeing, riding bikes, photography, going to concerts and sports events, and spending time with friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We have had the opportunity to see and do many amazing things. Recently we had the unique chance to zip line through the Borkeo National Reserve in Laos. It was incredible, and it also felt good to know that the money we paid was being used to sustain the reserve and support an amazing project that would protect and potentially regenerate both the land and the animals in the area.

Countries I’ve Visited
