About Me
Hi!
I split most of my time between my day-job as a law clerk for a federal judge, and as the Music Director for an artist-run non-profit art and performance space in Jersey City, NJ, and am deep into supporting the art and music scene in Jersey City.
I am a guitarist, focused mostly on improvisational music and performance--leading a band called the After School Orchestra in long-form (about 3 hours) improvisational music and poetry. As part of my involvement with the artspace, I run a weekly improvisational music night called After School Activities - you can hear recordings from our sessions at www.soundcloud.com/afterschoolactivities.
I was born in Ukraine, and came to the United States when I was 5 years old, first to Cleveland, Ohio, then to New Jersey. I studied Genetics and Philosophy at Rutgers -- genetics to understand a part of the physical world, and philosophy to understand a part of the non-physical world. After working a bit, I went to law school in Washington, DC to study intellectual property law, specifically patents and copyrights. I figured law was like applied philosophy and ethics, and patents were a way to incorporate science.
I love Haiku and am deeply interested in Zen and comparative religions, and I love road trips, hiking, and camping.
