CURRENT MISSION
Traveling from Europe to Asia
ABOUT ME
Hi there, I am a student in Groningen. I do a lot of sports, and I like traveling. Recently I have been traveling through Europe by bicycle, and it's quite nice to travel in that way. You can see everything around you better than any other mode of transport, and meet new people, see other cultures more closely, and travel in an adventureous way.
PHILOSOPHY
Perception and context are key influences on how one sees the world.
If something can be done about the situation, what need is there for dejection? And if nothing can be done about it, what use is there for being dejected?
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.
Although pain and pleasure are an inevitable part of human life, suffering and happiness are entirely optional.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting surfers, helping travelers and by couchsurfing abroad.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I used couchsurfing for the first time when I was cycling across the Netherlands, 326km in one day, and it was great. It is really good to use this site to meet other travelers. It has lead to bigger cycling plans and other journeys.
Recently I have hosted some people, and it was quite fun.

Music, Movies, and Books
Action movies, thrillers, but also some documentaries.
Music mostly modern tracks in Progressive house or Deep House. Sometimes I have periods where I like Drum and Bass a lot, then I listen to that mostly.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cycling from Holland to Rome in Italy was quite nice. Especially going downhill with a bike packed with gear and brakes that where not powerful enough to stop the bike in rainy conditions in the Alps.
The year after I cycled from the Netherlands to Israel.
Two years after, I went further east from the Netherlands to Nepal by motorcycle (outside summer it is certainly possible to cycle).
Visiting Iran and Pakistan.
Cycling to Russia
Hitchhiking from the Netherlands to Japan
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a lot about technological stuff like bicycles, motorcycles or computers, but also about traveling and the places I have already seen or I still want to go visit in the future, as I often do a lot of research before my journeys.
