About Me

"Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty" - Socrates

I'm left my flat and will be on the road for some months

ABOUT ME

In love with life.

Trying to understand the deepest mysteries of this world, beginning with myself.

I am Italian for many aspects, but I am not Italian for many others.

I love traveling, discovering new places and meeting people. I am a friendly person who likes talking, some times even too much.

I've got a MSc in electronic engineering, but I discovered shortly after my graduation that it was not for me. Luckily enough, but starting from zero, I had a quick career that allowed me to move from researcher in medical environment to consultant. With short term contracts, I could travel a lot, but that was not enough: I wanted to travel all the time... And finally I have managed to achieve that!

My curiosity brought me to the psychotherapy and while practising (some CSers were my volunteering patients too) I developed a quick treatment methodology based on NLP theories.

I am also a member of Hospitality Club (ID "apibiri").

Please quote "I've read it" on your request, so I'm sure that you are aware about my hosting offer

PHILOSOPHY

There is no way for happiness, happiness is the way.
Learn as if you were to live forever, live as if you were to die tomorrow.
Freedom begins where comfort zone ends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sharing experiences with surfers and hosts, hosting surfers when I can, supporting this community with such utopic project, trying to turn that utopic idea to reality

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met amazing people through CS, I am very glad to be part of this huge community... even though I have been noticing always more new members who tend to spoil CS philosophy.

HOW IMPROVING COUCHSURFING

My personal belief is that CS used to be a great community and, since it became a business, it has spoiled: more members for the sake of popularity, getting references without meet, asking friendships without even reading the profile.
I belong to CS old school... maybe I am hopeless, maybe I am naive, but I still wish things get as good as used to be.
I promote CSing for over 30s , who have harder time to find a couch but have more to share.
I reject modern social-media networking and I do my best to avoid CS turns into one of them. So, do you ask me for reference without having met? I will give you a negative reference; do you ask me for friendship without even reading my profile (and without reading this), you will get a negative reference.

Interests

I like so many different things that I hardly can list them… it depends on where I am, what situation surrounds me and my frame of mind… shortly, I like practicing NLP therapy when I find people who wants be treated, I like practicing rock climbing where there is facility to practice, martial arts if there is a good instructor where I am settled (rarely), going dancing where there is good music (I am picky), reading interesting scientific books when I find them and I have time, practicing shamanism where I find a shaman…
I believe that spirituality is an important aspect of life and can be practised in many ways. I like meditation and yoga, but I found spiritual aspects also in running, and climbing and and mostly in martial arts, if practised in certain ways.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like listening jazz and classic music, even though I do that seldom.
I rarely have time to dedicate to book and when I have it, I like reading those books that can teach me something, like scientific ones.
My best reading was The Cosmic Serpent, by J.Narby; How Brains Make Up Their Minds, by W.J. Freeman

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The world is plenty of amazing things, I cannot list them… I have seen twice an Undentified Flying Object in Crop Circle area in Wiltshire during the summer 2008.

Update: running away from a wild bear in a 2-hour walking-long frosted slope down road at night time in full darkness just before hibernation (when wild predators are hungrier) with two CSers met a couple of hours before.

Teach, Learn, Share

I might share some knowledge and some travelling experiences with you.
