About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Fishing.

ABOUT ME

My name is Anneliese. I am a passionate individual. I like the simple things in life: a cup of coffee with a friend, a good knitting project, cooking a meal together, taking a walk, receiving a package in the mail, an interaction with a dog or a child, good music, genuinely nice people.

I am outgoing, open minded and talkative. I am extremely flexible and adore learning about other people’s cultures and lifestyles. I like good food, to laugh and chat and to walk around cities and explore new places.

I have traveled many places in the world. I have met many travelers and where I live now has a small but diverse community. I always found traveling that meeting local people made a place, having insight and mentor into the culture, you happen to be immersed in. Culture and traditional customs and religion fascinate me...people fascinate me.

Life is full of many twists and turns but I try to remain grateful for what I have and see the silver lining in life whenever possible. Life is good and people are good.

PHILOSOPHY

"To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!”

- Emerson

"Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have crashed on many a friends couch. I am the type to call up a friend and tell them I am rolling through their town. I also like to help out friends when they come through my area and to host (However now I like a remote island on the Aleutian chain, so this happens less frequently.) When I am in my day to day routine or if they are in theirs, I prefer people that can be left on their own, if need be.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to England my junior year of high school. I raised money to go to a “End the War” peace conference. There were delegates from Iraq, MP’s from England and former soldiers from the USA... to name a few. After a long day discussing ideas and hearing testimonies from people, my traveling companion and I decided to go to St. Paul’s Cathedral. We got there right before the sun began to set and we began to climb the dome. When we arrived at the tippy top, the sun was just setting over London and we had the most amazing views.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to knit with someone in a foreign country!
I love learn cultural customs.
Food, food and food. Anything to do with food and cooking, I love to cook with others. I'm not the best cook ever, I just enjoy it.
I'd love to see your favorite food place, or hear your favorite band or little spot that you love, that is a hidden secret.
