About Me

CURRENT
I just started working at the Headquarter of Ecolab in Saint Paul as a Financial Analyst. I currently live with my boyfriend in a beautiful house he and his brother co-own.

ABOUT ME
I have been geographically apart from my family since 10 and was financially independent since 17. After my first year in college, I took three years off from college in total to work mainly as a content developer and teacher in Seoul, South Korea. There, I ran a small business and a non-profit organization. I graduated from Macalester College with double majors and a minor in Economics, Applied Math and Statistics, and Psychology, respectively.

I enjoy dancing, nature-walking, creating, art-crafting, cooking, baking, and having deep conversations. I am passionate about sustainability, organic architecture, green energy, and lighting design. I particularly love good coffee, brie, and salmon sashimi. Theses are what I would like to share with my hosts and surfers as sharing is growing and bonding.

Hidden gems are usually in the closest place and in our heart. I hope to collect bits and pieces of these gems by meeting new people and thereby learning about the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to keep on traveling and never stop learning about the wonders and beauty of the people and the world. I decided to host when I can because if I cannot bring myself to the other parts of the world, I would like to bring a part of the world to me, an insightful and brilliant quote by my previous host.

Interests

I recently got into permaculture, sustainability, organic architecture, and urban agriculture mostly due to my beloved boyfriend's passions, which I later realized were my ways of living as well. In 10 to 15 years, I am planning on starting an organic architecture company based on permaculture principles, psychological theories, and zen concepts.

I dance free-style on a regular basis in the genre of contemporary, hip-hop, and jazz. I also love social dance and Latin style dance such as salsa, rumba, tango, and swing. I love dancing because dance lets me freely express myself without any constraints. Dance is one of the highest forms of art because it connects me to my own body, soul, and the people I am dancing with in an inexplicable, transcendental way. Dancing gives me courage, trust, love, and compassion.

Among so many, the last passion I'd like to share is data analysis, machine learning, and finance. Yes, they are my majors, but I like them for more practical reasons as I have been independent for a long time, and I found every means of organizing or "personal administration" as I call it very helpful in my life. Sometimes, the act of defining and seeking the truth acts as a psychological relief from the exciting and frightening unknown that we live in. I am always at awe at the depth and width of our human knowledge while acknowledging our frailties and fallibility that leave us more room for growth.
