About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world, achieve enlightenment, and save the planet!

ABOUT ME

Sidney & I have been married for 21 awesome years, and live to travel. I am a real estate broker/investor & travel photojournalist wannabe doing magazine/newspaper articles, Sid is a commercial photographer (she's the photo part of photojournalist, see above!). Since we are semi-retired bike enthusiasts, we can leave on a moment's notice and spend some serious time abroad. We want to bike across Europe for 6 months sometime soon. Recent major economic setbacks have made it considerably more interesting to travel cheaply. We love to entertain, and hope that future European (and worldwide) friends will visit us here in the Great Northwest, the best part of the USA.

PHILOSOPHY

Bodisattva vow to help all sentient beings to the light...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have hosted surfers at our home from around the US, South Korea, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Guatamala, Brazil, Canada, Taiwan, France,Wales,Belgium, Finland & Poland, and hope to visit other kindred spirits in their home countries. We have had so much fun while making friends across the US and now the world!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted more nearly 50 CS groups, singles, duos, and couples, so far. We have surfed 5 couches too. Both are a grand experience! We are going to surf our way across Mexico next month.
The only negative is from CSers in San Francisco; we got turned down by all 12 hosts we asked. Yo, San Francisco, loosen up! Everywhere else has been super!

Interests

Travel (naturally), biking (we are bike fanatics, for health, fun, and fellowship!), hiking, camping, cooking & artisanal bread baking, history & culture, ocean fishing, boating, reading, photography, gardening, old cars, and loafing. Daydreaming is also gaining traction :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been so close to a Grey Whale that I could reach out and touch it. I have been in the Sea of Cortez when there were so many big fish that the water seemed to be boiling. I have had dolphins surf my bow wave for nearly an hour, leaping out of the water for the sheer joy of living. I met Baba Ram Dass and studied under Thubten Jigme Norbu, the brother of the Dalai Lama. In Yellowstone June 2010 we saw a bear & a moose from 10 feet away. In 2011 we counted 85 bald eagles in one hour on the Klickitat River, Washington.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sidney knows photography, commercial, fine art, portrait, and many other types of photo magic. (www.absoluteimages.org) I know investment real estate very well. We know how to travel cheaply. We know how to cook (and enjoy!) many cuisines. We are both good tour guides. I make a mean sourdough bread. I study & practice spirituality, both buddist and native american. They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear.
