CURRENT MISSION

To develop a good network of friends here in my new home in Cairns. To treat each the same, regardless if they too call Cairns their home, or if they are simply passing through.

ABOUT ME

I am very easy going and is currently traveling the world filling my mind with new ideas. (I have however, taken a pit stop here in Cairns and will be here for the next few years...but still traveling). I have a good sense of humor and enjoy being active. Meeting people has been something that I have really enjoyed over the past few years and have realized that 'happiness is only real when shared'.

PHILOSOPHY

As important as it is to look ahead, don't put much emphasis on unknown future outcomes in your assesment for present decisions. They often prevent you from experiencing happiness.

Make as many friends as you can, don't get trapped in your comfort zone, allow people to be a part of your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to be involved in developing local groups, and when I can, showing people around who have just arrived to my local area. In terms of hosting, I've just started to take in surfers, but I try to do so when I have time to actually spend time with them and show them around! I find people EVERYWHERE don't make use of their own backyard. Surfers give me the excuse to get out there and enjoy what my local region has to offer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to this site about 5 years ago. I have shrugged it off in the past, refusing to be a member of every internet based social platform that exists. I am beginning to embrace this couch surfing idea and have greatly benefited from it. I found a quick job and found some cool people to travel up to Cape Tribulation with me. I do what I can even if I cannot offer a couch or hammock. I haved helped numerous people find the right dive company in Cairns, and in return have had many peaple give me tips in there local area. I am always excited about who I will meet next!

Interests

I love being active and participating in outdoor adventure sports. For the past 3 years I had been working as a Dive Instructor in Cairns. My motivation for pursuing a career in diving is that I have learned that life is much better when you do something you enjoy, even if the pay is not what you`d receive from a boring stressful job. I enjoyed living in Mexico where my primary goal was to learn Spanish. I am enjoying meeting locals who have similar interests in learning English. I think we can help each other out and gain new friends in the meantime!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Zipped along with the Gibbons in the Gibbons Experience in Northern Laos. Spent 3 days on a deserted island with two really good friends eating crab, fish, stingray and fresh papaya.
