Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Do what I love, see the world, and meet its inhabitants.
ABOUT ME
I enjoy people, PERIOD. Everyone has something special that can be shared for the benefit and enlightenment of others. (Do I sound like a teacher yet?)
I have chosen to enter the field of education because I enjoy learning from ALL people. I believe the best teachers are those who are willing to learn from their students, even if they are only 10 years old---people that age have life figured out, it is the world we live in that leads them astray.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in taking any circumstance thrown at you and turning it into an educational opportunity...even if it is a negative situation there is still something that can be learned. You only truly learn from the unexpected.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed many a couch in several countries and hosted as well. A couch surfer even helped me move into an apartment (it was handy to have the extra labor!).
I also do 'word of mouth' advertising for CouchSurfing. Once I start talking about it sometimes I just don't want to stop.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My personal philosophy is to simply live. To buck old habits...as they said in "Dead Poets Society," "Old habits perpetuate mechanical living," which does little to feed your brain. Couch Surfing has defiantly allowed me to look for the new and interesting, off the beaten path, types of places while traveling and allowed me to meet some of the kindest and most interesting people I know.
Interests
Just about anything you can imagine...swimming, running, people, learning, hiking, camping, reading, music, movies, art, climbing....the list goes on, I am defiantly a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None."

Music, Movies, and Books
Some of the better books I have read are "East of Eden," "A Journey to the Center of the Earth," "Fahrenheit 451," and "The Healing of America." The latter was very insightful and solidified many of my political beliefs. "The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down," if you want an insight into a battle of cultural beliefs and why Americans always think we are correct this might provide you with some of the psychology behind this thinking.
One of my favorite movies is "Dead Poets Society," every time I watch it I draw more inspiration...perhaps it is the teacher in me. I enjoy a wide variety of films; however, I tend to gravitate toward those characterized as foreign, independent, classic or comedy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't this is so amazing--as much as it is stupid--I skied 5.5 miles (8.8 km) downhill on broken NORDIC skies with the aid of duct tape. But if you are looking for something totally amazing...I have taught kids how to read, and seen/helped non-readers love the art--you can't tell me THAT isn't amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I am actually a teacher by trade, a science teacher and I get to use the outdoors as my classroom. I am one of the luckiest people I know!
Learn: I would like to be fluent in another language(s). I'm working on my French--I understand quite a lot more than I can speak.
Share: I am willing to share my home, thoughts or whatever is needed with whomever is in need.
