ABOUT ME

A future mathematician, current code-monkey, sideshow semi-pro choir singer/amateur photographer/poet/bass player/traveller/hobby collector who ended up postponing his graduation by working as a web developer (Python/Django for those inclined). To overtly simplify, wrap up open-mindedness and tendencies to play and sing, to play with words, to contemplate multi-dimensional geometry, and to discuss world order and philosophy, and throw in wanderlust to have a somewhat close approximation of me.

I enjoy meeting new people and the feeling of endless of possibilities -- planning vastly ahead is thus not my cup of tea but I still like being resolute in all ensuing chaos.

Summer 2010 saw me taking a 1200 km = 750 miles bike trip from Turku to Sodankylä (http://lyh.fi/Ei) and will see me embarking on the reversed classic coast to coast road trip from San Francisco to New York. Hope to see you somewhere along the road!

I like to enjoy good wines, whiskeys and beers but I prefer not to get plastered. I don't smoke but I don't mind others around smoking. Same principle goes for being a vegetarian.

PHILOSOPHY

Always look on the bright side of life [whistling] and remember that there are two or more sides to everything.

Almost everything is possible (on a side note, if everything were possible, then everything not being possible would be possible, too)

Looking back at my travels, I remember best the people I've met. At the moment, people are the thing in my life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I spend more nights away from home than at home but I keep advocating the site and the idea of couch surfing (people seem to be so trapped into traditional ho(s)tel kind of thinking) and activate after summer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with just a couple of people and hosted only one but I'm slowly getting started. I'm positively perplexed even by these stories and experiences and from what I've heard, this is nothing but the beginning!

If you're into mountains and hiking, you definitely shouldn't miss Seoraksan national park in South Korea. The scenery was breathtaking. And wondering there just with a friend of mine. (But we'll still have the highest peak to conquer since the road was closed.)

Flower stick, basic three ball juggling (cascade).
As for the instruments, I can teach playing guitar, bass or recorder (I always travel with the last). I can also ramble on about electronics (mainly low level), different integrated chips, sequencers and all that. Still trying to figure out how to best use transistors, though.

Other than that, I can tutor people in mathematics (but don't ask me about integrating or differential equations, I'm more into algebra and number theory), teach them basics of Finnish or Japanese or some self-defence or general body control.
