About Me

Hello humans! I'm Aras. After some time, I am updating my about me part! Currently, I am living at İzmir. I love traveling, observing and meeting new people. I am still a passenger on the train! Try to meet and learn more about the world, dimensions, and humans. I am currently volunteering in a sharing space. Hosting situation can depend on date.

I believe in peace and equality in the world. Everything in this world is valuable and all are different pieces of the puzzle. I like the connection with 'others, out of boxes and basically, people who have something to say!' That's why I am volunteering for. I usually enjoy the joy of communication and meeting others. So a topic always comes :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people from all around the world and learn about their culture and experiences they have had. Also, traveling is not just about sightseeing, museums or buildings. Even though I love it, meeting with new people especially who shares the same ideas like me about the world, would be a blast during my trips. I'm also in love with the new ideas, kinds of music, movies etc.

CS is a great way to travel. I am so happy to be on a platform like that!

Interests

I love talking about books, movies, and music which are the main reflections of ideas and thoughts :) I'm really into the social sciences and cultural habits. I have studied social work and I'm running activism work in Turkey. I am working usually with refugees and LGBTI+ Rights. So if you would like to learn more, you can also simply send me a message and I can share some data, papers, and information. Besides that, I have just started photography and would love to learn more. These days I am writing a blog in Turkish, about my trips, volunteering experiences, some spiritual experiences etc. So I love memorizing moments to reflect from it :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is everything to me. Yet I don't have one specific genre. But I usually listen to indie, reggae, soul, 80s/90s and psychedelic rhythms as well as oriental music such as Sufi music, and some house music. I can share some of my music; some Turkish psychedelic songs, Turkish/Greek old music...

Even though my fav movie is Star Wars, I can share some of the directors that I like; Tarantino, Almodovar, Yorgos Lantimos, Iñárritu, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Fatih Akın, Michael Haneke... I usually like movies on social topics yet in love with the idea of creating something new with a deep message or any messages at all! :)

My favorite book is Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka also I really like Marquez's novels. I'm really into historical and political novels as well as philosophy, modern sociology etc.

I'm open for any suggestions :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach, Learn and Share could be my favorite 3 words! I can simply say that I am willing to learn many things and share them. Still feel too young to teach something :)

I can teach Turkish and Turkish culture. I can also share knowledge about social sciences and my life experiences. Currently, I'm learning Italian. Some language exchange would be really nice.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my everything :) My knowledge, my stories and of course Turkish food :)
