About Me

Hi there! My name is Arash, and I'm an Iranian-German computer engineer currently living in Shiraz. Growing up in Germany and now living in Iran has given me a unique perspective on life, and I'm always eager to learn more about different cultures and ways of thinking.

In my free time, I love hitting the gym and staying active, but I also have a passion for food and exploring new culinary experiences. Whether it's trying out local street food or cooking up a storm at home, I always appreciate a good meal.

As a host, I'm happy to show visitors around Shiraz and introduce them to the city's rich history and culture. I'm also open to sharing tips and recommendations for the best gyms and food spots in the area.

As a guest, I'm respectful, tidy, and always eager to learn from my hosts. I'm interested in meeting people from all walks of life and building meaningful connections along the way.

Looking forward to connecting with you on Couchsurfing

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because I believe that travel is about more than just seeing new places - it's also about connecting with people and building meaningful relationships. I've had some incredible experiences traveling in the past, and I want to continue that by meeting new people and learning from different cultures.

Couchsurfing offers a unique opportunity to do just that - by staying with locals and meeting fellow travelers, I can immerse myself in the local culture and get a more authentic experience of the places I visit. I'm excited to meet new people, share stories, and hopefully make some lifelong friends along the way.

As both a host and a guest, I see Couchsurfing as a way to give back and contribute to the travel community. Whether it's by showing visitors around my city or offering up my couch for someone to crash on, I want to help make travel more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Overall, I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe that travel is all about the people you meet along the way. I'm excited to be a part of this community and can't wait to see where it takes me next!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I have a diverse taste in music, but I particularly enjoy listening to electronic and hip-hop music. Some of my favorite artists include Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, and The Chemical Brothers. I also enjoy discovering new music and going to concerts when I have the chance.

Movies:
I love movies that can make me laugh, think, and feel inspired. Some of my favorite movies include The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, and The Dark Knight. I also enjoy foreign films and independent movies that offer a fresh perspective on life and society.

Books:
As a computer engineer, I spend a lot of time reading technical manuals and programming books. However, I also enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction books that challenge my thinking and broaden my worldview. Some of my favorite books include 1984 by George Orwell, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've done as a German-Iranian was visiting my family's ancestral village in Iran. The village, located in the north of the country, has been inhabited by my ancestors for generations and is rich with history and tradition.

Walking through the winding alleys and meeting the local people was a humbling and eye-opening experience. I learned about the challenges and joys of rural life in Iran and gained a deeper appreciation for my family's roots.

The highlight of the trip was participating in a traditional Persian wedding ceremony, where I got to experience firsthand the joy and love that permeates Iranian culture. From the vibrant colors and music to the delicious food and warm hospitality, it was an unforgettable celebration of love and community.

The trip allowed me to connect with my Iranian heritage in a meaningful way and to appreciate the unique blend of cultures that make up my identity as a German-Iranian.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
As a computer engineer, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in programming, web development, and software engineering. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and helping them learn how to code and build their own websites and applications. Whether it's through one-on-one mentoring or teaching workshops, I find great satisfaction in empowering others with the skills and tools they need to succeed in the tech industry.

Learn:
I am always eager to learn new things and expand my horizons, whether it's in my professional field or in my personal interests. I am currently interested in learning more about Iranian history and culture, and I am also trying to improve my German language skills. I believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and I am excited to continue exploring and discovering new things.

Share:
I believe that sharing our experiences and perspectives is key to building understanding and empathy in our world. As a German-Iranian living in Iran, I have a unique perspective on the intersection of different cultures and the challenges and opportunities that come with it. I am always happy to share my experiences and insights with others, whether it's through blogging, social media, or in-person conversations. I believe that by sharing our stories and learning from each other, we can build a more connected and compassionate world.
