Overview
About Me
Hello-Hola! My name is Arcadia and I am from California but now living in the countryside of Kagawa, Japan. After graduating I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life so I moved to Japan where I'm teaching English at the local middle school. I want to visit every prefecture in Japan and meet new people along the way so let's meet up!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I am trying to travel as much as Japan and the surrounding area as possible. Some of my most memorable travel experiences were because the people I met were so interesting and fun so I'm trying to continue that. Now that I have a more permanent place in Japan, I'm willing to host too (though due to my location, my place may not be the most convenient). There is a pilgrimage on the island of Shikoku made up of 88 temples and I happen to live close to the 87th temple and a long walk from the 88th so I'm opening my place to those trekking and who don't want to sleep outside.
Interests
I just want to do things that make me happy hope that lasting memories and friendships develop along the way.
- red wine
- mexican food
- drinking
- board games
- team sports
- traveling
- hiking
- baseball
- learning languages
- reading books
- mountain hiking
- eating chocolate
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite books are: A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Alchemist, and Pillars of the Earth for reasons that we can talk about if we meet.
As far as music goes I like a little bit of everything and it really depends on how I'm feeling at that moment. My favorite band since the 6th grade has been The Strokes though more recently I've been listening to The Arctic Monkeys, The Last Shadow Puppets, and Interpol. No favorite movie since there are just too many to choose from.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Completing an overnight hike to watch the sunrise at the summit of Mt. Fuji. Definitely one of the most challenging but at the same time rewarding things I have ever done.
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't know how to cook very well so please teach me how to make your favorite dish. I can teach you some English and Spanish. Oh, I can also teach you how to knit!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a bottle of wine, travel stories, and happy aura.
