Trying to walk the benevolent path
ABOUT ME
I'm a young, energetic guy who can't stay still for too long. I manage a nonprofit organization that's looking to increase service learning in GIS education (http://educontribution.org). I also work for a small tech startup in Chattanooga, Tennessee. My work allows me to travel (it's the same internet (almost) everywhere), and I consider myself very lucky for that!
I can be a bit shy in groups, but I'm becoming more outgoing every day. I love to meet new people when I have the time to really connect with them, and to share experiences with them.
PHILOSOPHY
"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." - Oscar Wilde
I'm a bit of a Buddhist, a bit of a romantic, a bit of a child at heart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to host _so_ much, but it's not possible right now. For now, I'm just a surfer and an event-goer!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been surfing off and on for about two years now. I haven't surfed too much, and unfortunately I haven't been able to host yet. I try to go to Couchsurfing events when I can!
Interests
Climbing, literature and poetry, social change, meeting new and interesting people.
I do yoga, brew mead (and beer, soon!), garden, pickle and ferment. I love to hike, mountain bike, climb, slackline, swim and row. I love all flavors of adventure. Learning new things and meeting new people drives me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every day is amazing if you're present and mindful.
For four fire seasons I traveled this beautiful country, working in our national parks and forests. I've worked in the Beartooths, Zion, the American River, the Boundary Waters, and dozens of other places. They were some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen (even if they were on fire when we got there). I saw plenty of amazing things, but I've hung up my fire boots now. Don't ask me about it when I'm drinking, or you'll hear all about it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to share my knowledge of mead brewing, pickling (vinegar and lacto-fermentation) and gardening.
I've started my own education-centric non-profit, and can share my knowledge in that realm if you're interested.
