About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've lived most of my adult life very passively, spending my days in passive hobbies (reading, shopping, going to restaurants, sightseeing while traveling) and keeping largely to myself. Part of it is just my personality, but I think a lot of this behavior is motivated by a lack of motivation and anxiety about taking risks. I won't pretend I'm going to 180-change myself, but I really want to engage more with others, create more, and get out of my comfort zone! I think couch surfing would help me a lot with that!

I can't accept guests right now unfortunately. I live in a one room studio with my boyfriend so there isn't much privacy as it is! Hopefully in the future I'll be able to, though!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not very interested in music (which I realize is a weird thing to say - I used to be obsessed with music but over the last few years I haven't found anything that has moved me in the same way as before). I'm a slow reader with a bad memory, but I love reading. Plus side of a terrible memory is that I can reread mysteries without knowing the ending!

My favorite novels are anything by Haruki Murakami or Kazuo Ishiguro. I also love mysteries and tales of adventure. My favorites are the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, Mary Russel/ Sherlock Holmes series by Laurie R. King, and Agatha Christie's Poirot mysteries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm pretty sure I've read everything Agatha Christie has ever written.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can TEACH:
• Basic Japanese
• Tips for traveling/living in Japan
• Some Vegan dishes (I'm not a great cook by any means, but I'm fairly good at cooking my favorite foods. I can make some really good Kitsune Udon, Soy Milk Ramen or Tofu Tacos or if I have the right ingredients).

I want to LEARN:
• More vegan cooking (especially local dishes from the places I'm visiting!)
• Useful foreign language phrases.
• About other people's interests and lifestyles!

I want to SHARE:
Experiences, Interests, Knowledge!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I speak some Japanese and know a fair amount about Japanese culture (I lived there for a year and have been learning about the culture for over a decade). I was also obsessed with Japanese fashion subcultures for my entire young-adult life, so if that's something you're interested in I could tell you a lot about that! I also looove teaching English, so if you are an English-language learner I would love to help you! My grammar isn't impeccable, but I love teaching people about American English slang, idioms and expressions.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan

Countries I’ve Lived In
