About Me

Currently I study in Strasbourg, but I'm from Vancouver, Canada. My two favourite things: traveling and nature :)

I study literature and political science, and I consider myself a foodie (not to brag, but I am an excellent cook. Case in point: my bf gained 10 kg since we started dating ;) My favourite way to get to know someone is by sharing a delicious meal and perhaps a bottle of wine. If you host me, I promise to cook something tasty for you :D

My experience with couchsurfing:

In summer of 2014, I did an exchange in Prague at Charles University to study art, architecture, politics and history. After that I travelled for a month in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg. Most of the time, I stayed with couch hosts and I loved it!

In summer of 2015, I moved into my own house, so I was able to host for the first time. I hosted around ten people, and it was a great experience :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Initially, the fact that I am a broke student was the reason why I joined couchsurfing, until I learned about how amazing this community is! I've met some truly formidable hosts and guests, and I was deeply moved by the positive impact they had on my travelling and life experience. Couchsurfing is far more rewarding than staying at a hotel or hostel, so I like to contribute by surfing/hosting whenever I can.

Interests

FOOD (both making and eating), adventure, meeting new people, writing, reading, going to the ballet/opera/theater, learning n' shit, cool ideas, hiking, travel, and the betterment of the earth and humanity.

Music, Movies, and Books

(In no particular order)

Music: Porcupine tree, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tame Impala, Beatles, Heart, Joan Jett, shitty K-Pop, Nine Inch Nails (from before Trent Reznor quit heroin), Stevie Nicks, Queens of the Stone Age, White Stripes, VAST, Lana Del Rey, Rush, cheesy music from the 70's-90's. Also I sometimes listen to top 40 when I work out because it's my guilty pleasure.

Movies: Shutter Island, Shawshank Redemption, Shawn of the Dead, Leon the Professional, Fight Club, Idiocracy, Forrest Gump, Sound of Music, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Saving Private Ryan, My Fair Lady, and pretty much any musical ever made. Don't judge me.

TV shows: Game of Thrones, Rick and Morty, House of Cards, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Firefly, Brooklyn 99, Narcos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Master of None, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Death Note, Futurama, American Dad, Darevil.... (The list goes on...I watch too much TV)

Books: Things Fall Apart, Season of Migration to the North, From a Crooked Rib, Dahanu Road, The Lighthouse, Death in Venice, The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Ovid's Metamorphosis, and anything by Albert Camus, Simone de Beauvoir, and Jean-Paul Sartre (I've read literally hundreds of books for my degree so this isn't a complete list)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saved the life of a super drunk person when they were aspirating on their own vomit. Oh that's another reason why you should host me: I have level one first aid. So if you have a minor cut I can totally save you from bleeding to death.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to surf, and I like to host. The beautiful thing about couch surfing is the continuous exchange of generosity and especially knowledge. I'm happy to teach my languages and learn some of yours. I can show you around my city, or at least give suggestions, and I appreciate when hosts help me feel welcome.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to think I'm a pretty nice human.
