About Me

We try to embody the phrase “Adventure is out there”. We believe that life is one great adventure and the world is filled with invigorating places to explore. We don’t want to just visit a country, but want to experience the country. That means eating where the locals eat, engaging in friendly conversations with residents, traveling off the beaten path, and learning all we can about the culture.

I love to share stories, listen to other’s life experiences, relax with a book, explore nature, capture the world through my camera lens, discuss world issues, camp under the stars, cook new foods (especially if they involve potatoes!) and dance the night away. I am always on the move, trying new things and enjoying all that life has to offer.

Originally from Humboldt County CA, I and my partner Jerrod are enjoying our 5th year of living in Australia and recently became Permanent Residents! We moved here beginning of 2018 hoping to gain more work experience in our respective fields. I get excited about bats and other wildlife, and Jerrod gets excited by numbers. We believe that opposites attract which is why we travel so well together. Jerrod works with data analytics and I currently work in the outdoor gear industry and also do ecology work and freelance photography.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We often forget that this wonderful tool exists, but if we have learned anything from traveling, its that making friends in unexpected places leaves an incredible impact, and small acts of kindness to travelers in need, even more so. We have had some wonderful experiences on couch surfing and are hoping to continue utilizing this community, and hopefully, soon become hosts ourselves!

Interests

These interests make up the better parts of my days! If you do any of the above, or want to get into it, I'd love to chat. I’m also constantly trying to improve in all of my hobbies/passions/interests and love to be challenged, so if you’re keen to help each other improve in any of these, let’s get in touch!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a Maasai village for one week, sleeping on a cow hide under the stars, being dressed by the village women (I didn't know how to tie on their fabrics), and bathing in the river, surrounded by the friendliest people in the harshest environment.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk about the outdoors and wildlife, photography, environmental issues, the arts, board games, ultimate frisbee, or how to find some of the best playgrounds around the world!

Jerrod can talk to you about how statistics govern the world around us, how tea can change your life, and can help with any finance/techie/Alexa questions you may have (exciting I know!)

We would love to learn everything about your home including the food, culture, customs/traditions, history, politics and all the hidden nature or city spots. We also truly want to get to know our hosts and how your experiences and traveling have shaped you into the person you are today.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I want to share my love of traveling and enthusiasm for life with anyone else that wants to join in on an adventure! I can share my skills (if any of them are of interest to you), teach you how to throw a frisbee, or just a friendly ear to listen and share life experiences with.
