About Me

I was born on a Friday late morning of 32 years ago. I put my mum through a 36 hours labour cause I couldn't be bothered to come out. But, as soon as I did it, I suddenly realised that 9 months locked up in the same place had been too long, and, for as much as I had loved the comfort and the security, it was time to come out and see the world. That's what I've been trying to do ever since. I daydreamed during all my childhood and adolescence, learning every language I could possibly study at school and I started my translation studies right after it. Until at some point I decided it was time to go abroad so I moved to France for one year. Then I came back home to finish my studies and then left again, to spend six months in London, then six in Belgium..and so on and so forth. My painful Master's degree in Conference Interpreting has kept me stuck for a while, until last year, when I moved to Australia. And there, wooow!!! I’ve stayed in Sydney, I’ve done farm work, I’ve lived with the best people, I’ve met the worst people, I’ve traveled 4.000 km along the East Coast from top to bottom. I’ve seen the Great Barrier Reef snorkelling , diving, from the sky...💚 Then I moved to Melbourne..found the job of my life..and that story is still about to be written. I’m sure it's gonna be a mind-blowing one, but it had to be put in standby for a while. I’ve spent the last year and a half fighting for my life and I have not only managed to get out of it as a winner but also and most importantly managed to not forget to live in the meantime. Rome has welcomed me and has given me so many great things to see and do and experience that sometimes I almost forgot the reason why I was there. Now that by body is free from that shit I’m trying to shake it off my soul too, and I didn’t know a better way to do it than travelling. So I decided to move to Spain for a while (the sun and the see and the FOOOD and the people..OMG😱😱😱!! 🤩🤩🤩) and what was in the beginning a visit to Barcelona became a two months VVVuelta de España from East to West and from top to bottom. Ooolé! 💃 I’m so excited about this trip I might jump off my skin and explooode!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm relatively new to Couchsurfing, since I’ve only stayed with a few hosts, but I like new! I’ve been to the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao just today and one of the artists from one of the exhibitions said in one of her masterpieces “The only things that are interesting are the things that are new” cause that's when there's more to discover, that’s when there’s more to learn..and that's exactly what I wanna do! I can't wait to meet new people, to listen to new stories, to find out about their favourite places or their favourite recipes. And there's such a human loving principle behind all this that it makes me wanna hug everyone.

Interests

Traveling, more than an interest I would call it the big love of my life. Once somebody said "Traveling is like flirting with life. It's like saying, 'I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station"..well that's what I do, I flirt, relentlessly.
Second big love of my life is cooking, I enjoy it so much that even after the crappiest day you can see me smiling and singing and jumping around while stirring, mixing, tasting..and I like it even more when I can share it with someone else, both the cooking and the food...everything becomes sooo enchanting with a pinch of salt and some good company. Oh, and chilli, lots of chilli.
Then, anything that involves going around, with or without a destination, movies, better with popcorn than without, libraries, museums, the Opera <3, playing volleyball and watching tennis for hours, live music and beer forever and ever, breakfast out, beach in summer, beach in winter, beach at sunset, beach upside down.

Music, Movies, and Books

About books..I don't think I will ever find anything that will amaze me more than "One hundred years of solitude"..but I'll die trying! I'm currently reading "The Star Rover" by Jack London, I'll let you know what I think once I'm done with it!
Movies, where do I start..I'll just tell you the first 5 that come to my mind, I've loved them: This must be the place, Inglorious bastards, Django unchained, Budapest Hotel, Into the wild.
Music..I'm currently obsessed with anything that has to do with The tallest man on earth, The head and the heart, Angus and Julia stone, Vance Joy, Bon Iver, The Editors, The Nationals, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Band of Horses...but I always come back to the origins once in a while, for a nice afternoon/evening in company of The Smiths, Guns and Roses, Nirvana or my dear friends Pink Floyd

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've hiked Mt Wellington in Tasmania together with a 75 years old woman who has radically changed, in a few hours, the whole idea I had of my future life: "let's travel now while we're still young cause then we won't be able to do it when we are older" my ass!!! She left her husband at home and just left for three months..and that day I made a promise to myself, I will never stop, it will never be too late.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you all the languages I know and I could learn some more! I could teach something unique and interesting about my beautiful beautiful Sicily, to the point that you'll feel the urge to book a last minute flight, that's a promise. I wanna learn everything about you, your country, your hometown, your studies, your walk of life, your ex girlfriend/boyfriend, your passions and your fears so that we can share a moment of truth that will last forever.

What I Can Share with Hosts

All the good food you can imagine and even more, a good laugh and chat chat chat to the point you're gonna have to shoot me to stop me. Seriously, ask my friends.
