About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting to know as many new places and people as possible!

ABOUT ME

I'm a 25 year old Italian girl, moved to the UK 7 years ago and currently living in Coventry whilst studying for a PhD at the University of Warwick. I like to try and use my intellectual curiosity to try and change the world for the better. I consider myself curious and extroverted, generally enthusiastic about life, thirsty for knowledge and always on the look for new challenges and adventures, with a strong passion for social justice and political engagement. I've been transplanted from my lovely Italian hometown of Bologna to the UK back in 2008. Over the past few years I've lived, studied and worked in London, Oxford, Dublin, Brighton, and I have very recently relocated to Coventry, in the Midlands (which is actually a very nice place to live, despite the reputation!). To be fair, I don't know anymore where home really is for me, my heart is in many places at once - and I rather like it this way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies (a very out of date list): Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Juno, Blade Runner, Being John Malkovich, Closer, The Science of Sleep, Everything is illuminated, La vita e' un miracolo, Goodbye Lenin!, Todo sobra mi madre, La mala educacion, The Pianist

Books (the essentials): Of mice and men, 1984, Extremely loud and incredibly close, For whom the bell tolls, Homage to Cataluna, If not now, when?, 100 years of solitude.

Music: everything and anything from West African kora to afrobeat, balkan-ska, folk, indie, (post)rock, lyrically-inspired song writers, electronic and punk - with some healthy doses of pop and 70s/80s/90s trash for when a bit of silliness is needed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can introduce any host or guest to the wonders of Mediterranean cooking - there's no problem that can't be solved with tomatoes and olive oil. And I am a bit of a geek about politics, current affairs and social policy stuff, so more than happy to talk endlessly about that if anyone's interested! Always curious to acquire new knowledge - anything from fixing bikes to brewing beer...
