hello, I'm Aric - writer, photographer and the occasional television host. worked for National Geographic, BBC, Lonely Planet and more. split time between New Orleans and my sailboat - currently in the Bahamas. I've been on the road for a little more than 20 years, and can't imagine life off of it. currently bicycling around Scandinavia and trying to do it on a slim budget, as to show people [Americans, mostly] how cycling is a much better way to experience a country, not to mention keeping costs way, way down.

because Couchsurfing is Airbnb without the financial transactions. it's real people with real kindness offering up real advice and real conversation. you immediately bond with someone who trusts you into their home and if we had more of that, I think the world would be in a better place.
