ABOUT ME
Originally from San Diego, CA, have since lived in Brasil, New York City, Texas, and Colorado! Masters program in International Development... and am now working in tech! :-) Also lived in Nairobi, Kenya for periods of time. As for languages. I am new to the city and am excited to explore and meet new people! I also love meeting interesting people from different cultures!!
PHILOSOPHY
Carpe Diem and the Golden Rule. Change the world one step at a time. To try and to fail is better then to have never tried at all. Try as hard as possible not to judge people, but to accept and understand 'Why'!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I could probably meet you for a drink or something interesting!
I offer my couch, my floor, my city, my beer, my time, and my cooking. ;-)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've slept on many a couch, and I think it is the best way to travel ; it's the only way to experience the local culture!! I've now CouchSurfed over 10 hosts, and I love it! I had many CouchSurfers stay with me in California, and I have had a good time showing them around San Diego and experiencing the things that they have to offer! As for "Couch Surfing", I just don't think that a couch would float very well, but whatever works... ;-)
Interests
Helping people who everyone else ignores, living to the fullest, travel, dancing and bar related things. Global development. A lot of DANCING and a little beer. Sometimes the other way around. A goal of mine is to have danced and drank on every continent, and to have improved the lives of other people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything unique! I've been watching a lot of international films lately. I love 80s music and movies! I like books about social issues.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The slums of Nairobi, Kenya, specifically Kibera. Nothing changes you like seeing the most basic human needs go unmet. Living in a Kenyan slum. Dancing in foreign countries. The street parties of Lapa in Rio de Janiero. Brasil in general. I like push-starting stalled vehicles in foreign lands: I have push started a public bus in Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya, and push-started a taxi in the middle of a highway that runs next to Tienanmen Square in Beijing, China! I have also been held at gunpoint by drunk police at 4am in Nairobi, Kenya, as well as by a sober policeman in broad daylight in San Diego! Don't worry, I'm not a criminal, it's just profiling! :-)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can tell you many crazy stories (all true). I lived in Kenya for several months. I can talk about that. I've lived in Brasil for 9 months. I've worked with homeless teens, I think that's pretty interesting. I also did volunteer work with children. Plenty of stories there! I love people that can tell a good story! Unfortunately I cannot teach you how to knit a sweater, I never learned that skill.
