About Me

I'm an eternal optimist, a food lover and a world explorer. I love the outdoors, whether it is traveling by foot or bike or seen through a car window. The open air makes me whole lot happier. And sharing that with friends, new and old, makes me happier still.

PHILOSOPHY

Be more present.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Some of my best memories have been while traveling, even just 30 minutes away from home. Exploring new places and meeting new people is a constant in my life. And I look forward to meeting likeminded people still.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a really great couchsurfing experience in New Orleans, complete with cute puppies, corned beef sandwiches and amazing zydeco music.
I couchsurfed through India, Taiwan, California, New Mexico and the Bahamas and have appreciated every place, experience and person I met so so much. I love this site for expanding my horizons and giving me the opportunity to make friends all over the globe.
I look forward to continuing this streak in when I head back to Asia and the Pacific this summer!

Interests

Gardening, herbalism, cooking, biking, reading, doodling, storytelling, pottery, hiking and I've recently taken up knitting again! I'll have mittens by the end of the season!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Kill Bill, Being John Malkovich, Fargo, Amelie
Music - Bob Dylan, Mos Def, Jenny Lewis, Smokey Robinson, Anderson Pak, The Fugees, Fleetwood Mac...
Books - The History of Love, Homegoing, Middlesex, Manhattan Beach and anything David Sedaris has written.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sun rise over Bagan in Myanmar made time stand still.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook and bake. And I make a pretty good lentil soup.
I can grow vegetables pretty adequately...but I am always trying to learn more and more. Interested in learning more about animals and fermentation (but not together! Although curing meat definitely interests me!) Aaand now I’m hungry.
I know how to french braid. I’ll do your pigtails for free!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My greatest joy is sharing stories. The most interesting, life-defining and thought provoking stories I've heard come from my peers, not the big-screen. I love learning what drives others, what makes them happy or sad or contemplative or silly. I hope to share those facets of myself, as well as learn from others.
And I can bake you a challah, no questions asked.
