About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to make a home in San Francisco or D.C., but to make plenty of friends along the way, on whichever coast I end up.
ABOUT ME
Get ready to groan at a lot of bad puns. I love adventuring, and I have an unholy amount of energy for the little that I sleep. I have two special skills: whistling with two fingers, and drinking huge quantities of water. I'm an activist at heart, and it's a challenge for me to slow down, take time, and relax.
PHILOSOPHY
Respect, empower, include.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't had an apartment that wasn't a room rental for a while - so I haven't been able to offer an apartment of my own, yet. But I'm eager to settle down and pay it forward!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't couchsurfed yet.
Interests
I wish I could say that I spend all my time outdoors, because I'm pretty intentional about interacting with whatever environment I'm plopped into. However, in general, I spend most of my time working. I'm a policy nerd and wonk, and I just love talking about trade, development, and foreign policy, all the time!
Still, I really enjoy listening to and making music - all kinds of music. And if I had to list a religion here, it would be "slam poetry." Wordplay and word games help keep my brain engaged.

Music, Movies, and Books
Freedom - Jonathan Franzen
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've played piano in a castle... I've won an election! I've gotten lost and had to hitch a ride out of the Grand Canyon, because I missed the last shuttle after dark. I've fallen in love with cities I've never been to. And I've driven through rural Michigan when the temperature drops below 20 degrees, and opened my sun roof to look at the stars, only to have it freeze, open, to the cold air.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am down to lead a slam poetry workshop, teach or jam on piano, sing or play uke, settle down for an origami sesh, or even teach you advanced Microsoft Excel/statistical modeling skills.
