I have a passion for learning about different cultures and for travel. I prefer to experience the real heart of a community rather than just the picture perfect spots. Pretty views are of value but are fleeting.

I like most kinds of music, but some of my favorite artists are Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Noah and the Whale, Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, Andrew Bird, Iron & Wine, Bear Mountain, Vampire Weekend, and The xx.

I'm always up for movie recommendations, some of my favorites are The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, A Little Princess, American Beauty, and The Count of Monte Cristo.

Some classic books I've enjoyed are Slaughterhouse-Five, The Great Gatsby, 1984 and Of Mice and Men. I also enjoy reading philosophy such as The Republic, Symposium, and A Theory of Justice.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Teaching English in Ethiopia. It's a bit ironic that so many people think money equates to happiness, when in Ethiopia I was the happiest I have ever been in my life; without a shower, a toilet, a stable water supply, stable electricity, and other modern conveniences. That is not to say that third world countries do not need help. My happiness came from interacting with the people and appreciating the land. Happiness can't be reached from wealth, but decency can be achieved from sharing it.
