About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find a vaccine to the avean flu, climb my brains out, listen to as much live music as I can, hike and dance!!! (I am not a good dancer)

ABOUT ME

I was born in Russia while it was still a cozy communist nation, but came to Israel with my family when I was 7. This was probably the best decision I have made and it wasn't even mine :) As any good Russian boy my parents made me play the piano for 10 years and I thank them for that deeply although I haven't really played since high school - I am planning a comeback though... Then I did the regular Israeli route through 3 years service, working in construction (with rappelling) for 6 months and my first big trip - 6 months in south America. I also visited afterwards (throughout the next 10 years) Costa Rica, Turkey (A hike in the Kackar and rockclimbing in Geykbeiri), Uganda (2 months volunteering in a village near Mbale) and so on and so forth... After South America I studied psychology and biology (they call it Brain Sciences just for PR I think) and continued afterwards to do my masters in biology which became the PhD degree which I am now doing. Right now I live with my wonderful girlfriend in Tel Aviv (3.5 years together) near the beach and all the bars and enjoy life. I also try to climb as much as I can and I really enjoy it. That is all I think... In short

PHILOSOPHY

I try not to accept common ideas and views just because they are common, but to judge for myself. I like to laugh and make jokes but only if no one is offended and in general I try to love people and nature as naively as possible, but there are still some progress to be made in that direction...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't understand what this field means.... I do like to participate in stuff though, so I suppose the answer is: VERY HIGH

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have none!!!!
You have the chance to be my very special first - In return I promise to never forget you, whoever you are.

Interests

I rockclimb 2wice a week and try to go to real rocks on weekends if it is not too damn hot.
I play the guitar a bit - only chords, nothing fancy.
I love dancing although I don't really know any specific dance.... I tried salsa but gave up - planning to give it another go soon.
I love hanging out with friends, especially if there is some good laugh involved.
I really love going to live shows and to the sea.
Ah, and I love good icecream

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have a pretty broad taste but I suppose I especially love balkan music and the "balkan beat box" band (although reggae, rock, hip hop and even pop works)
Books: I love to read and should do it more actually. The last great book I read was "Predictably Irrational" by Dan Ariely
Movies: I also enjoy movies very much, and the last good one I saw was "To Rome with love" by Woody Allen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have spent 2 months volunteering with 2 of my best friends in a small community in the Boombo village located near Mbale town, Uganda. We were the only white people for dozens of kilometers, and the village had no electricity or running water. We established a small summer school there for the orphans and also tried to increase the use of condoms (not by explanations). We drank hot coke, played ultimate and talked with the locals, but most importantly we laughed every day, th whole day.

Teach, Learn, Share

O.k - I can teach Russian Hebrew and English. I can also teach some basic guitar chord playing. Of course I can teach biology, since this is what I do....

The thing I would like to learn most is dancing (hip hop and latin dancing).
