Overview
About Me
I was born and brought up in the UK. I like to spend all of my annual leave from work meeting new people, seeing new places and having fun. The generic Couchsurfing profile stuff basically!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Mostly to meet new people from different backgrounds and see life from different perspectives. From meeting fellow travellers all around the world I've heard that Couchsurfing is an amazing way to achieve this. So, here I am!
I'd love to experience a city through the eyes of a local to gauge what a city is really like, rather than what the tourist board of a city want you to see! For example, finding quirky interesting pubs down backstreets. I'm always up for exploring, partying, experiencing high and low culture, quiet relaxing, or just hanging out.
Interests
Sports (watching and playing) including football, rugby, cricket, hockey, badminton. I'm quite a sporty person in general so they all interest me!
Politics - I really enjoy talking politics and being exposed to different viewpoints and schools of thought. I could talk about politics all night happily. I have friends with views from right across the political spectrum so even if we don't share the same views we'll still be able to get along!!
I enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking. I regularly go fell walking / running in the Lake District in Cumbria, UK. You are most welcome to join me if you fancy it! It's best in the summer but I've found that you can go at all times of year if you are fully prepared.
My favourite genres of music are deep house, tech-house and techno and I really enjoy both day and camping festivals.
In terms of culture, I like to think art (even if I don't sometimes understand it!)...I like to go to the theatre and opera too in London as well as in Vienna.
Drinking (of course) I'm partial to real ales in particular.
Altogether I'm pretty open-minded as a person and extremely gregarious, so I'll give anything a try.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste is impossible to define. It's so varied! From Classical, to indie-pop to house/techno! Favourite bands include Arctic Monkeys, Wombats, Foals, Kooks and the Klaxons.
Books - all the classics such as 1984, War & Peace etc. But my favourite author is John le Carre.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2015, I visited a foreign country every month of the year as part of my New Years resolution. It was difficult fitting it into life (I was studying for a Masters degree at UCL at the time) but it was extremely rewarding and quite possibly the best year of my life. Here's to 2017 being half as good!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really keen to learn more languages, particularly Russian and French.
Favourite philosophy: "Helping one person might not change the world but it could change the world for one person".
What I Can Share with Hosts
Positive attitude, hilarious stories, and fun!
I will buy food, cook (Indian food if you would like) and clean up.
