About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To circle the world no airplanes and hotels, but sailing and couchsurfing!
ABOUT ME
(see also NomadArland.wordpress.com) I have finished studying and am now exploring the world. My plan is to circle the world without flying. I want to take it slow, and to spend ample time in the places I wind up to learn about the place, the people, to make a connection. I've always had a broad interest. I did my bachelor in Humanistics, which is quite a philosophical but very interesting study on humanity, worldviews, psychology, ethics etc. But I missed a sense of realism sometimes, and my love for nature drove me to do sustainable development for my master. Besides studying I've had a wide range of hobbies: acrobatics, capoeira, tango, playing guitar, singing. During my travelling I wish to immerse myself in these kinds of things, taking courses where I go.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that being positive and engaged with the world and other people is vital. I want to contribute to that which is life giving: sharing love with those around me and caring for nature.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm sorry not to be able to offer a couch myself. I'm living in a community garden at the moment, small and technically illegal :). But when I get back I hope to be able to contribute.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had none 'official' couchsurfing experience so far, but I've hitchhicked plenty, which sometimes resulted in winding up on the couch of the person I got in the car with. One of the nicest experiences was when I was picked up with my girlfriend by a puppeteer. He was pulling an oldfashioned wagon behind his truck that he just bought to use in one of his shows. It was slow driving, but he called up his wife to cook for two extra, and we spend the night in one of his wagons. I loved seeing some of his work and in this day of driving and sharing a dinner together to connect to this kind stranger and get a sense of the life of a puppeteer.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite writer is John Steinbeck, I just love East of Eden and The Winter of our Discontent. In the range of spiritual writers I like David Deida most.
In music I enjoy singer song writers / folk music most. Van Morrison, Ane Brun, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Iron & Whine, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
walked a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella
Teach, Learn, Share
On my travels I'm hoping to learn arabic, tango, martial arts (aikido, tai chi, wushu) and maybe spanish. I can offer English, Dutch, Sustainable Development, guitar playing
