About Me

Hello!

I'm currently working as an English teacher for the British Council in Seoul, South Korea. This is, in large part, so that I can get some savings behind me and still travel to neighbouring countries when I have the time and the money! I lived in Thailand for a few years and love going back there. This is my life now: I live, work and travel in Asia.

Regarding my home...

1) It's a matress pad, people! For some, that essentially means "the floor"! You can look it up on the Ikea website! See further details in the "my home" section!

2) I'll help you out with whatever you need... just don't ask me to join you! After a busy week, I usually just want to sit in parks, ignore the world and read my book! I'm not antisocial... I just work with very small children! I need to take time out or they drive me insane (ummm... in a good way)!

3) To the beautiful young couples of the world: you are human. So I'm just going to come right out with it... love is a beautiful thing and I DO NOT CARE if you have sex in my spare bedroom! All I ask is this: a) If I'm in the house, try not to make too many loud animal noises! Think mouse sex, panda sex, even dog sex. Dogs are usually surprisingly discrete, actually! But please, no cat sex. No fox sex. It disturbs my reading! b) Clean up after yourselves! Another beautiful young couple left some... ummm... stains! Hahahaha! (Funny... kinda horrible, but also quite funny!)

4) SECURITY: The door is code activated and I hope you'll understand that I would like to meet you before giving you the code to my home! We can meet in one of the local cafes. It's very pretty and just two minutes walk from the house!

5) THE USUAL STUFF: Please don't smoke inside the apartment. Please don't take food without replacing it. Please don't bring back stray animals, rob me or kill me. You are welcome to use the shower, too (rule number 4 still applies, though)! You can also use the soap. It's nice hippie soap! Good for the skin! I think that's everything. In short, I want you to feel welcome but I don't make much money so please don't make me poorer than I already am!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My ex used to have loads of couch surfers over at her place so she kind of got me into it! We both met interesting people, we got out and about more, had some fantastic nights out... and hey, she's in the US now staying over at the home of some person who she hosted for!

It's always nice to have company, I have a spare room and I'm happy to help folks out if they're travelling through! I work more than I'd like and the door uses a passcode so you can come and go as you please!

Interests

In no particular order... cats, classic motorcycles, dubstep, Game of Thrones, parkour, teaching, weird fiction, historical fiction, storytelling, fire, interesting voices/accents, minimalist living, philosophy... that'll do for now!

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmmm... I'll just stick down a few off the top of my head...

Music: Iron and Wine, The Deftones, Boards of Canada, Blackmill

Films: Dark Crystal, The Imitation Game, Guardians of the Galaxy, Clubbed

Books: 'Cloud Atlas' by David Mitchell, 'Perdido Street Station' by China Mieville, 'Y: The last Man' by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, 'A Fine Balance' by Rohinton Mistry

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Funny how a lot of your best memories often don't make the best stories! Hmmm... I got drunk once when I was at uni in the UK, got lost, leant against a fence door that turned out to be off its latch, fell down some garden steps, threw up, walked into someone's home and fell asleep in their conservatory. I woke up in the morning unsure of where I was and accidentally walked further into the house. One door was ajar and I saw a giant field of cannabis. I suddenly realised that I was trespassing in a drug dealer's house and ran back the way I'd came, up the steps and back to my friend's place. I then realised that I'd left my wallet behind, containing some spare change, my bank card and my student ID! The place got busted by the police a few days later. I never got a phonecall, fortunately!

Teach, Learn, Share

Not quite sure what's required of me here! Errr... I teach every day and I learn something new most days. I share cookies when I have them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cookies. I don't usually carry much on me but... ummm... I can buy lunch and coffee and I always share my fruit! Errr... good conversation! I'm fit so I can share morning runs in the park and a home yoga space! As a general rule, I live a fairly cheap and simple life! What else? I'm good with power drills and Ikea furniture. I also share malt loaf. But grudgingly.
