About Me
CURRENT MISSION
save the world? huh, let's just start with smiling to people
ABOUT ME
They say I am generous, quiet but funny (because I try to be funny), curious person, appreciate humor (except british humor: sorry I don't understand you guys), value friendship and people true to their word.
Actually I asked my wife what she thinks of me so it's a bit cheating :p
I like teasing people. It's a way to break the ice. Sometimes, people with different cultures take it too seriously. I try to learn how to behave myself but it's so much more fun if we could all tease each other and laugh about it. :)
PHILOSOPHY
Let's bring joy and excitement and a bit of craziness!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been hosting a lot in Vancouver and I met amazing people form so many countries. After we decided to travel around the world, it was time for us to discover the other side of Couchsurfing, surfing at people's place. We had such a great experience with couchsurfer, it's just magical that people put so much faith in it and invite us like royal guest. My best experience of Couchsurfing was in India with Muslim communities. We were treated in the most honorable way. So much that I felt ashamed being hosted by such generous families.
Interests
First I am a geek, but a stylish one I think. I like to take everything apart. Now I can't because my wife would give me that look. I love art in every form. I am quite handy. I did some pottery for few years and learnt carpentry so that I would create something I can use in my apartment. Yes I even built a bed for couchsurfers. As geeky as I am, I would buy all kinds of tools. :)
I am now back to kung fu as well, a martial art called Wing Chun. I believe in spiritual energy in the body and healing with energy like Reiki/Qi Gong.
Besides all that, I like to host friends for brunch, go snowboarding at Mount Seymour, hike with my Belgium friends to Tetrahedron Park, watch tv shows...

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a Freddie Mercury fan. The greatest singer in history. I am from the old generation that loves hard rock but at the same time, I subscribe to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. My favorite composers are Rachmaninoff, Dvorak, Beethoven, and many more during Classic and Romantic era. I don't know anything about music, I don't play any instrument but I can really appreciate the music, especially when you can see a talented pianist few meters away playing Rachmaninoff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For a person that works a lot, I try to travel as much as I can. Raised in France was easier for me to discover many cultures next door.
One of the beauty during my travel is in Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. It's an amazing scenery. Imagine yourself on a boat, the water is quiet with no waves at all, the rain is light and the sky is dark with lightning. The view around you is full of mountains on little island. The rain is fresh and the water warm at the same time. Clouds are playing symphony and lights while you can observe the greatness of Mother Nature.
It all sounds scary but it actually felt peaceful in my mind.
That text was written two years ago, that was before I went with my wife travelling around the world. So What amazing things have I done? I can't tell you that in one sentence since we visited 20 countries in 5 continents but check out our blog: www.stephandarmel.tumblr.com
