About Me

Hey there, I'm doing a bike travel in south Europe from January to July 2024 so when not sleeping in the wild I may couchsurf a bit to visit new cities, meet wonderful people and maybe find rock climbing partners :)
Spain is the first country so looking forward to meet you amigos y amigas !

I love to be in nature, climb, hike, do some photography (especially landscape and night skies), meditation, yoga and cooking for friends.

I just finished a PhD in cognitive neurosciences where I studied the effects of meditation on the brain, so I can definitely talk you a lot about this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I created a couchsurfing profile when I was backpacking in New-Zealand, but finally I did wwoofing instead, it's almost the same but in farms and you have to work some hours a day for the people who host you, it's great too!
I also used it when I was in the US, never slept at someone place but I met lot of great people thanks to the couchsurfing events! I think that to live with locals is the best way to visit a place and you always meet people from different background, education, political ideas, countries and culture, it's always enriching.

So far I have just lived in a small appartment or in shared flats so it was difficult for me to host but I would love to do so as soon as I have something bigger.

Interests

My first passion is rock climbing right now but I like all kinds of outdoor sports (climbing, hiking, running, cyclism), cooking, philosophies and many other things.

I am biking a lot, actually I only move by bike in the city, no public transport, may it be raining, snowing or worst..

As my research was on meditation I also started meditating and doing yoga 5 years ago, with quite a change in how I see myself, others and the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot but some books that influenced me the most are : "Les Misérables" of Victor Hugo, all Tolkien books, "Guns Germs and Steel" of Jared Diamond, "La horde du contrevent" from Damasio for french readers.

I really like movies that makes me think of it for hours or days after having seen it, for example if it has a very deep political message (Fight Club, American History X, Spotlight) or a thrilling and very complicated scenario (The Prestige, Usual Suspects, Shutter Island, Inception).
The last very good movies I saw are : Captain Fantastic, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Spotlight.

Music: I like any kind of (good) music, if I hear a melody I like in the radio, in a pub or in a movie I will search and listen to it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Best human experience :
Humanitarian travel to Benin, Africa to give french and maths class to children. I think my most beautiful social experience, we were hosted by the people, they don't have anything but will give you all.

Best travel experience :
Sleeping in completely isolated and desert areas in New-Zealand while backpacking with my car and admiring a beautiful sunset, then start a fire to warm me for the cold evening, spending hours watching the amazing night sky, and then in the morning wake up with a gorgeous sunrise. I think I have seldom be as happy and at peace than during these simple and natural moments...
Did that again during a road trip with friends in western US, all the national parks, etc.. was wonderful to share that with amazing people, it created unbreakable bonds between us..

Most sensational experience :
Skydiving in New-Zealand

Most profound experience :
Meditation, it can be quite an internal travel

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very curious and happy to learn and discover different ways of life, culture, cooking, music, etc

I won't say I can teach but at least share some cooking recipes, I love cooking with and for others, I try to bring back at least one typical recipe from the countries I visited.

And thanks to my studies and work I know quite some stuff on brain functionning, cognition, consciousness and meditation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Fun, cooking, interests about any kind of sport, philosophical discussion about life, travel, society, humankind, ecology, meditation, and many other things !!
