About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life in one of Germany's nicest cities

ABOUT ME

See my blog at http://www.arndb.de/ for what I'm up to right now. You can also find me easily on Livejournal, LinkedIn, StudiVZ and Ohlo if you want to know more about me.

You will certainly find that I'm a geek and my profession is a significant part of my life, but I'm always interested in extending my life in new directions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm was a unique experiment in 2008, doing an exchange with an Australian college of mine -- swapping offices, homes and cars for three months, so he was staying with his wife in my shared appartment in Germany, while I got to live in their home in Canberra.

Interests

Computers, music, films, cooking and eating, science, religion, cycling, bushwalking.

I don't do sports, alcohol, cigarettes or any other drugs.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies, all sorts of them. I have a large DVD collection back home in Germany, not so much here in Australia.

With music, I'm much more selective, listening mostly to Rock music of all sorts, with the occasional blues, punk, crossover, pop and emo, but don't expect me to enjoy techno or hip hop music.

My favourite bands include Snow Patrol, Ocean Colour Scene, Feeder.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I came up with the Linux kernel interface that is used to access the Synergistic Processing Units in the Playstation 3.

While this doesn't mean anything to you unless you are working in information technology, I can assure you it's pretty amazing ;-)

Teach, Learn, Share

Being a computer geek, I can teach you how to use your computer and the internet more efficiently, and learn to see it as a helpful tool rather than an annoyance.

I tend to believe that I know a good deal about how the world outside of computing works and am interested in learning something new every day.
