ABOUT ME

i spent many years sitting behind a desk waiting for my 'real' life to start.

then, way back in '06, i realized that i had to start it for myself, so i quit my job, stuffed a backpack full of books and clothes, and got a one-way flight to Europe.

i travelled at a snail's pace, sometimes barely moving for months at a time, for two and a half years.

offices make me nervous.

i am a conversation-loving introvert, who sometimes just needs to be still and recharge.

i want to see it all.

Books: I read a lot, I'll read almost anything, and I get a little tense if I don't have a book (any book!) on hand. favourites are:
black lamb and grey falcon (rebecca west), the pillow book (sei shonagon), the razor's edge (w. somerset maugham), the diary of a teenage girl (phoebe gloeckner), pride and prejudice (jane austen), anything raymond chandler was responsible for, kelly link's short stories
Movies: favourites are Wings of Desire and Nights of Cabiria. Also have a soft spot for the Dirty Dancing franchise (it's a place and time thing).
Music: really, almost anything goes - but it always comes back to rock n' roll. Most listens lately: The Hold Steady, The Afghan Whigs, Neko Case, Erik Satie, Miike Snow, The National, David Bowie, and the incredibly random mixes my friends make.

i could add something new to this field almost every day...this morning it was a big red sun rising over the water and a pack of wild dogs running down the beach.
