About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a gay man who 'came out' later in life, I have four children (some of whom might be here, sometimes not). I have a wonderful partner, Malik, that I live with, he is originally from Bali and works as a doctor, when he’s not out surfing or paddle boarding!
I'm easy going, creative, a good-listener; tidy and self-contained. I work in education, very active in my local community and enjoy meeting new people and spending time with friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people, particularly meeting people from around the world connects me to the Global Village.

Interests

I'm currently spending a lot of time working on trying to renovate my house, if you want to lend a hand that would be much appreciated!

I enjoy cooking, participating in the Arts as well as going to view theatre, cinema and galleries; walks in the countryside, cycling and gym; eating out and drinking good wine with a meal.

I am part of a Playback Theatre group and also teach playback theatre.

Some of my favourite music to listen to - Jan Garbarek, and the Hilliard Ensembe - 'Officium'; Keith Jarrett - 'The Koln Concert'; Seth Lakeman -'The White Hare'; Jack Johnson - 'Better Together'; Ali Farka Toure; Abdulla Ibrahim - 'A Celebration'
Books I enjoyed include 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho, 'The Moral Imagination' John-Paul Lederach

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have visited an old slave fort in Ghana and a sulphur mine in Java, Indonesia (ok, so that's two things, but hey, life is full of amazing things!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can have English conversation with you and help you improve your English conversation skills. I'm also an educator and can talk with you about the English education system, education leadership and also how we, in the UK, support children with special education needs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have an old house that I'm currently renovating, it's a bit rough on the edges but if you stay I can offer a room with a bed and also additional air-beds if needed.

I'm currently working long hours Monday to Friday so tend to prefer hosting at weekends but check out my schedule if you’re interested.

Please don't just use me as a stop-over to the ferry terminal!

Countries I’ve Visited

Egypt, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine, United States
