Über mich
- - - I am currently on the road for training reasons and not able to host - - -
I am a curious, passionate and thoughtful person. I sincerely enjoy challenging my own assumptions about the life, the universe, everything. I have pursued my undergrad in Heidelberg studying political science and psychology and am now moving on to a masters in Post-war Recovery Studies in the UK. I believe that peace and understanding can start when people start packing a bag, flick it over their shoulder, and travel. This is why I love Couchsurfing: by walking in someone else's shoes, I realise that humanity in its inner core is essentially not made for shoes.
I speak English and German fluently and have good French and basic Spanish skills. At the moment, I am beginning to learn Russian. People from Russian-speaking countries, please do not hesitate to contact me, at any time.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I don't care much about places that travel guides write about but I do want to breath with the place where I go. That is, I want to listen to the personal stories of the people I am with. I am on Couchsurfing because it is a collection of stories that are worth listening to.
Interessen
I have a whole bunch of interests, including, of course, international politics, peace and conflict, and social psychology. I am an enthusiastic reader of post-War literature but also adore contemporary literature. I am a passionate listener of post-hardcore music (especially of my all-time favourite Thrice), jazz, and polka. I am always interested in my hosts' or guests' daily lifes and lifestyles. Last but not least, I have a distinct weakness for languages and am always keen to talk to you in French, Spanish, or Russian (though I guess I will still need some time to learn the ropes of the latter). I also look very much forward to learning Mandarin, or Turkish.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I believe my travels to Central Asia or the Maghreb region were pretty awesome. Still, as a passionate yet painfully ungifted photographer, I certainly know that the big picture is not reducible to its pixeliated parts.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
Here are some general things that I have learned while traveling: Never go running by night, and if doing so anyway, be sure to run near a lake or the see and be able to swim fast. Faster than street dogs, at least. If you can't, please carry some sausages or falafel at least. Always bear in mind that sharing your crisps with random people on the bus may get you a place to sleep at. Afterall, escargots don't taste so bad really. Oh, and most importantly: Google Maps gets shit done. Talk to people!
