About Me

I'm a journalist living in central Wyoming. I grew up in San Francisco, attended university in Vancouver (with a year-long detour in Cape Town) and moved out here for work. I'm loving the exploring the mountains, open spaces and great stories this part of the country has and I'm always interested in meeting travelers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend I met traveling in Egypt recommended Couchsurfing to me and I finally got an apartment to myself in Casper where it works to host. Haven't used it much as a surfer but love meeting travelers and other folks passing through Wyoming!

Interests

I love to read -- books, magazines, blogs, etc. -- because I love to learn new things and get exposed to interesting ideas. But I also like to get out and hear music, play soccer, relax on the beach (outside of Wyoming), eat good food, cook good food (or try...) and spend time with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Always excited to discover new music, my taste runs from generic pop hits to my music my parents grew up listening to but these days I'm mostly listening to Spotify playlists that someone else made.

I'm always torn between reading to "learn" and reading purely for pleasure. Tried alternating fiction and non-fiction, but I've come to realize any great book will both make you feel and teach you something about the world so I worry less about genre these days. Some favorite authors: Alexandra Fuller, Junot Diaz and Mohsin Hamid.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During summer break while I was on exchange in South Africa I spent two months traveling by bus through south-eastern and central Africa. One of the coolest trips I've ever done!
