About Me
CURRENT MISSION
back home now in Fairfax with my 'friemily'/family
ABOUT ME
Helped start the California Lichen Society but I've been into Nature Study since a kid - collected lepidoptera, 'local weeds' pressed, nature museum, etc. BA physics Cornell '65, MA biology Caltech '72 (where 'selftaught' electonics attempting PhD in neurophysiology). Definitely a technical bent, scientist at heart. 'Occupation' has been electronics technician, now finally retired. Was a 'communal communities networker' with 'Library for Social and Technological Alternatives' that has become more an archives for GLBT periodicals since 1970's. Now live with partner Ticor in a communal household with friends - we call 'friemly'. Current project is developing GAGEN (gay archivists gopher and exchange network), see /my.opera.com/GAGEN/blog/ . My father and mother's parents from Finland, getting back to my ethnic roots, last several summers suomessa(!) ja kieli tulee takasi/and the language is coming back, and I now even have dual US/Finland citizenship. Life just gets more interesting every day.
PHILOSOPHY
Live and let live. Cooperation! Love to share.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Its been just great helping the surfers that have come to visit with us. One of the mottos I have always held is to nurture each other's creativity. By helping others we actually help ourselves - often in ways we never dreamed.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've had a couple wonderful 'surfers' stay with us so far. Its just great! So far we have hosted 4 since we got into CS, and its fun to make a 'home away from home' for them.
Interests
Ticor and I watch the sunset from Bolinas Ridge every chance we get. Make my 'rounds' to San Francisco, Berkeley, etc. often several times a week picking up gay newspapers for my archives project. Out in nature, studying lichens, and we have a garden on the relatively small lot.

Music, Movies, and Books
Have not had a TV for years - seems there is no time for it. But have (too many) BOOKS - especially nature study, communal living, languages (for some mysterious reason), books about Hawaii, Finland, New Zealand -- places I have been, and there's all the technical references on physics, chemistry, etc. that have accumulated.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every year is more amazing than I could have ever predicted.
