Overview
About Me
I’m sort of figuring it out as I go along, trying to shake it up a little, seeing what falls out and putting the pieces back together as they fall. I love to read, to write, to keep moving, to keep seeing, always trying to keep my eyes and mind open. I’ve always been in love with art. It fills in all the gaps. I’m always looking for new art, for old art, for all the things that aren’t really art but might have art in them. I’m a martial artist too, but I’d never hurt anyone, unless they do that slap bump thing that we do in jiu jitsu and then we can go hard.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has been responsible for so many great moments in my life. Some of my best, wildest, weirdest nights have been because of couchsurfing. It is, for me, undoubtedly the best way to travel.
Interests
I love art in all of its forms, and that is really my foundation. My professional interest (and another passion) is good food and drink (nothing in the world better than a good meal with good people). My hobbies include combat sports (love watching MMA, doing BJJ), as well as fighting games (Smash).

Music, Movies, and Books
It’s tough of course to narrow it down. It’s a constant search for me, looking for new ones, and things i didn’t see before in old ones. Here’s too short a shortlist:
Music: Bowie, Pavement, Charles Mingus, Bob Dylan, the Silver Jews and recently Purple Mountains on repeat (RIP DC Berman).
Movies: 8 1/2, the Shining, Chinatown, Stray Dog, Perfect Blue, Apocalypse Now.
Books: lemme get that existentialism (Camus, Sartre, Nietzsche, and really the whole of continental philosophy will do it for me). Hemingway, Han Shaogong, Tennessee Williams, Dostoyevsky, and there’s a book by a dead crazy Frenchman named Antonin Artaud that is probably my favorite ever.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I watched C-Beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.
Teach, Learn, Share
I guess practicality has never been my strong suit, but I know a decent amount about many abstract things...
I love wine, and I’m trying to be a sommelier, so I’d be happy to discuss that and of course drink some. I’m a pretty good cook though I’ve worked with some of the worlds best (at least the best in Philly) and so it’s hard to call myself great. I am a decent blue belt in bjj and have some pretty good set ups. I am currently obsessed with Super Smash Bros Ultimate and I’m trying to be the best young link in the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think I’m pretty good for conversation and if you want I’ll pick up a bottle of wine for us to share.
