ABOUT ME
I love being active and indulge in many different things: nature (plants!), travelling, meeting people, history, politics, cooking, science, DIY, ...
PHILOSOPHY
Nature is very important for me and I try to make little damage to the world. In my old flat in Vienna (member "Gregor Schmy") we tried to cook food from organic farms, clean with biolgically degradable chemicals, reuse stuff, reduce waste...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I travelled together with Sara (member name Mandana) and Michael through Luxembourg, Belgium and Ireland in the summer 06. We started off at the Frequency Festival in Austria and went to Luxembourg for a couple of days. This was our first couchsurfing experience, for the three of us, as well as for the host Daniel. We were a little nervous about it, but it worked out very well. Then moving on to Belgium, we wanted to stay a couple of days in Brussels and afterwards a while in Antwerp, but we liked the place in Brussels so much that we decided to stay there and go to Antwerp just for a day. In Ireland we stayed at friends we knew already before, as Michael and myself were living there together a couple of years ago.
In 2007 Ive been couchsurfing in Italy with my boyfriend and had some great nights in Rome and Naples! I was (and still am) most interested in historic places - important pillar for todays Europe.
The following summer I travelled through the US and stayed on the couches of two very nice couples in San Diego.
Interests
I am easily fascinated by different things and love to learn from people. A long-term hobby is botany in which I love to endulge in (although I unfortunately never made it to the Bronx or Brooklyn botanical garden yet). Within botany I have a particular affection to Vegetation ecology and Ethno-botany (medicinal plants).
My alltime favourite is travelling, and I have been to quite many places in Europe, once in Singapore and Australia.
When I lived in Ney York city I got also into Yoga, Tai Chi and Capoeira - the first giving me stability to my mind, the second body awareness and the latter some means of getting rid of my surplus energy in an interactive and fun manner.
Being interested in history I like to learn more about the American one, starting from indigenous peoples to the European conquer, the strive for independence (how did the thought of independence emerge?) up to todays shaking world order.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is changing a lot, but all time favourites are German/Austrian artists like Mia, Gustav and Kettcar, Irish bands (they really know how to make music!!) like Damien Rice or The Frames and lately also classical music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every day can be amazing, you just need to want it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am an open, communicative person and can share a lot of experiences with my hosts. I like cooking and usually cook a meal or also organise some time together. I am interested in whatever experiences or (local) knowledge my host can share with me and look forward to my next encounters!!
