About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Traveling is more important to me than most things, and I make time every year for some kind of adventure or another. I usually travel after or around Burning Man each year, this will be my 5th burn, and I hope the theme turns out as cool as I think it will. I've taken long road trips the last few years, and I flew down to New Zealand and Australia before that. I usually sleep in my car, and I stayed in hostels down under, I wish I registered on here sooner.

for my potential future hosts: I'm usually traveling alone and like to go get lost in a town and find my way around, but wouldn't turn down some local guidance. I'm mostly quiet, but sarcastic and intelligent. I know more about tea than most people outside of asia. I drink alcohol often, but never in excess, and I prefer wine and cocktail parties to keggers, but that doesn't mean I don't like beer, I can definitely appreciate a good IPA (Stone brewery rocks them all) and I can hold my own in a game of beirut. no idea what kind of stuff people want to see here, I'll figure it out after I've seen a few veterans' info...

Music, Movies, and Books

Most definitely the hardest part

Coen Brothers movies (The Big Lebowski being #1), Office Space, Monty Python (Holy Grail and Life of Brian in particular), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Mad Max, Kill Bill, Donnie Darko, The Hudsucker Proxy, MST3K: Cave Dwellers, Spaceballs, all Tim Burton films, The Matrix, Princess Bride, LotR (as one, 12-hour movie), Daft Punk's Interstella 5555, Ninja Scroll,

all of Douglas Adams' books, Tolkien, The Master and Margarita... finish this later, my tastes change way too fast. Do comic strips count? if so, old Far Side comics and Calvin and Hobbes, for sure. Mr Monkey and the Gotcha Bird and Where the Wild Things Are deserve mentioning, as well; they're still some of my favorite books, even though I've only ever heard them read by my mother.

since I can't chose which I like more than others, I'm just going to go through itunes for this one: Aphex Twin, Beatles, Beck, Bjork, Cake, Death Cab, Dethklok, Daft Punk, Devotchka, Foo Fighters, Gorillaz, Hot Chip, Iron and Wine, Janne Da Arc, Led Zeppelin, Modest mouse, Postal Service, PotUSA, Radiohead, Ratatat, Royksopp, The Shins, Sigur Ros, Tenacious D, Victor Wooten...

although I haven't actually had tv service for years, I still download or watch some shows when I can. The Office, Futurama, the Simpsons, Family Guy, most things on late night Comedy Central and Adult Swim, Heroes, Invader Zim, Flight of the Conchords, Black Books, Faulty Towers, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, METALOCALYPSE... I used to love Aeon Flux back when MTV only played music and bad-ass cartoons.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

too many things to choose from...

I was surfing, (or, rather, attempting to surf) in Australia on a crowded point break in Byron Bay, almost getting run over by people who were probably annoyed that I was in their way, but enjoying the sun and beautiful clear water. I was mostly just hanging out, sitting on my board watching people surf and being mesmerized by the ocean, when people all started talking and pointing. I, of course, immediately thought there was a shark. but, through the clear face of the 8-foot wave coming towards me was a dolphin, swimming along the wave, as if showing off to all of us, mocking the boards we needed to have as much fun as it can have any time it wants.

apparently it's a common sight, but for someone who's lived in colorado, landlocked for so long, it was stunning.
