About Me

I’m a freelance photographer born and raised in London, England but now living in Bali, Indonesia, after spending a year and a half living in Vancouver, Canada. It's always been my dream to travel as much as possible, about 5 years ago I decided that earning money all the time and buying things wasn't quite as important, and would just spend every penny I earn on seeing the world!

I'd generally say I'm quite a nice, friendly guy that tries to be as genuine and down-to-earth as possible. I'm mostly vegan, love to experience as much of the local culture as possible, and am quite happy throwing myself into some spontaneous fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel, I love to get the opportunity to meet and get to know local people that LIVE the place, rather than hanging out with tourists or going to clubs. I'd much rather someone's sofa over a fancy hotel room any day! I hope that one day, I get to return the favour and have the incredible people I meet on here in my home too!

Please note, I had several more references from some incredible people I've stayed with through CS but it seems that the admin are currently deactivating a large amount of accounts!

Interests

I've been fortunate enough to make photography my career as well as my passion and use it to travel the world as much as possible.

I'm a huge fan of cycling and spent three years working as a bicycle messenger, cycling on average 4-500 miles a week! I've cycled from London to Amsterdam, and London to Brussels. I'd love to do more cycling trips around Europe, Asia and Africa!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to watch documentaries relating to travel, culture, nature, etc (anything Sir David Attenborough, Anthony Bourdain, Louis Theroux, Simon Reeve, Michael Palin, etc related) and independent foreign films. Some of my favourite films include Into The Wild, Everest, Beasts of a Southern Wild, Bombay Beach and Dogtooth.

Though I have a tendency to read non-fiction, I've always been a big fan of the writings of Jack London. Thanks to my recent purchase of a Kindle I'm getting back in to reading fiction. Recent books include Gulliver's Travels, Treasure Island and other classics it's time to catch up with!

With regards to music, there's very little I'm not into! My favourite genres would probably include blues rock, folk, metal, witch house, deep house, electro house, and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In April / May of 2016 I spent two weeks travelling through Nepal with Adventurers For Change. We successfully delivered home solar kits to thousands of people across the country, as well as installed full solar grid systems to four schools in some of the areas worst-affected by the 7.8m earthquake in 2015. Once the systems were successfully installed in each respective village, we had a party with all the kids to lift the spirits and left them with plenty of extra gifts, from t-shirts and sweets to headlamps and speakers! There'll be plenty more of these trips to come!

"When people perceive their lives as being at one with nature and the planet, their views of society, nationality and race will naturally be transformed. As long as the window of the human heart remains battened closed, no great future lies in store for humanity. People have to throw open the window of the heart. When they do so, there will be no more hindrance to peace." - Daisaku Ikeda
