Art Gene is not a person but an arts organisation based in Barrow in Furness - but working locally, nationally and internationally in the field of visual arts, design, environmental design, architecture and the environment. We work with specialist from many different disciplines - including archeology, history, town planning, ap design, ecology. We frequently invite our guests to work with us and collaborate on community outreach projects.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the summer of 2016 we hope to invite national and international visual artists to come to Barrow-in-Furness and create artworks especially for the town. Money is tight, so we are hoping to find hosts within our local area who can provide accommodation for our artists.
We are also continuously seeking to reach more people in our community who could be interested in the work we do, and Couchsurfing is a further way of doing this.
