ABOUT ME

I'm 23, having just completed a Masters degree in African politics and development at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. I would say that I'm relatively outgoing, enthusiastic and friendly and I have wide range of interests; it's rare I find someone who I don't have things in common with!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Can possibly host people at the moment as I have the space and time to do it, something I may not have in the future! Hoepfully then be able to travel and use couch surfing in the future to meet and stay with other people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

New(ish) to couch surfing but have been lucky enough to travel fairly extensively in Southern Africa, East Asia, Central America and Australia. When travelling in Zimbabwe and South Africa as well in Australia this often involved staying at people's houses who I met when travelling. This was always great fun and so want to continue this trend - I see couch surfing as a great way to meet more people both here in the UK and abroad.

Interests

I'm really into my football and I'm a big Southampton fan; I go to the games live whenever I can. I also enjoy playing tennis, skiing and before a knee injury used to practise the martial art Aikido for years, something that now proves to be tricky...
I enjoy the outdoors as I grew up in the countryside and I love to travel as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite authors probably being Orwell, Maugham, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Kerouac, Vonnegut and Hemmingway.

Really interested in a whole range of music from 60s and 70s rock and roll (Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead etc) to blues but also electronic music such as drum & bass and dubstep.

As for films again pretty wide taste from American Beauty to One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest to Last of the Mohicans!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Maybe Semuc Champey in Guatemala? It's amazingly beautiful. Or having spent the night climbing getting to watch the shadow or Sri Pada at sunrise stretching out over the hills in central Sri Lanka.
