About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet and write about as many different people and places as possible.

ABOUT ME

I currently teach freshman English at a few colleges while writing and planning my next adventure. I read, write, hike, camp, and explore. I want to learn about everything. I want to talk to everyone and hear great stories and meet characters. I'm out to find the different, the obscure, and the unusually ordinary, if you know what I mean. I also like to climb trees and rocks.

PHILOSOPHY

To be honest and to be kind.

Music, Movies, and Books

Shows: Dexter, The 100, Strange Empire.
Music: Passion Pit, The Black Keys, Korn, Ben Folds, Evanescence, Alanis Morisette, Florence & the Machine, Irish music, Indian music, tons of music!
Books: Fiction: Anything by Kelley Armstrong, Cassandra Clare, Holly Black, Melissa Marr, Andrea Cremer.
Nonfiction: Anything by Ted Conover, Richard Preston or George Orwell. "Mountains beyond Mountains" by Tracy Kidder.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison River in Colorado is the most amazing thing I have ever seen--and I hiked down into it!

Teach, Learn, Share

Honesty bordering on the painful. I'm only now beginning to understand the complicated reasoning behind white lies.

Much knowledge of narrative journalism because of school and personal obsession. (Tall Trees by Richard Preston, anything by Ted Conover, and George Orwell's essays.)

How to ask questions.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Delicious french toast. I also make a mean quesadilla.

I give great feedback on stories and essays. I'm also a decent copy-editor. If you have something you want feedback or edits on, I can offer my services.

Stories.

Countries I’ve Visited
