About Me
CURRENT MISSION
We'd love to host people who are traveling to Korea or passing through. We enjoy traveling and meeting new people, as well as the rare opportunity to experience a place through the eyes of a local or long-term visitor.
ABOUT ME
We met at college in LA. We've been married since May 2008 and have been working and living in Korea since September 2009. We fell in love while on a trip to India and Nepal together. Since being married, we've been able to add nine more stamps to our passport, and are hoping to do a world tour after we leave Korea. We enjoy reading, cooking, and sharing in conversation with others. Kolt enjoys playing games (board games, card games, Catan) and Holly has recently been interested in anything she can bake that includes sugar and butter. We are pretty laid back but enjoy outgoing people and are interested in learning about other cultures.
PHILOSOPHY
We both like to live pretty simply, which is why couch surfing is so appealing to us. We believe in sharing what we've been given, enjoying what others are willing to share with us, and enjoying ourselves and our time abroad.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting and visiting. We think this website is going to give us a rare opportunity to truly experience the places we stay, and introduce others to our favorite parts of Korea. We love to cook at home, but will use any good excuse (especially visitors) to go out for our favorite meal here, Ddalk galbi.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We're still new to this but have had good experiences thus far.
Interests
People. Reading. Good conversations. Watching a good movie (mostly Holly). Playing Catan like your life depends on it (Kolt). Cooking. Public transportation. Coffee. Traveling. Living intentionally. People with a good sense of humor. People with a poor sense of humor. Politics. Korean food. Noraebang (karaoke in a private room) in moderation.

Music, Movies, and Books
K: Ender's Game, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Omnivore's Dilemma, any history or science fiction/ fantasy books and books on religion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Our favorite shared travel experience is probably our honeymoon in Costa Rica/Nicaragua/Panama.
Teach, Learn, Share
Because we're Americans living in Korea, we don't have our creature comforts from home. We've been very surprised by our ability to create and re-create things from home. Holly has taken to making hummus and baking in a way she never had in the states. Kolt makes a killer Thai curry dish for dinner.
We would also love to share our experience, knowledge and advice with any future EPIK teachers or people interested in teaching English in the public school setting.
