About Me

Hello!
I'm an easy going guy who works as a guitar tutor, and lived in London for most of my life. I read a lot, and like to get on stage with my guitar as much as I can. I used to work in childcare and before that everything from building sites to markets, to street corners.
I'm a cheery person most of the time, always looking to help out, and I find it easy to get along with most people. However I'm very respectful of other people's spaces, so it can be as if I'm not there. Relaxed and friendly, with a generally quiet nature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently in Melbourne on somewhat of a round the world trip, and in need of a room asap. I have a job starting very soon but I'm in need of a little help to tide me over for the next week. I also hope that couchsurfing could be a great way to meet people and make a couple of friends in a new city, however I can keep a distance if you'd rather not!

Interests

I'm a guitar tutor and love to play myself. Largely in to folk, country, blues, etc, with a bit of singer songwriter thrown in. I am also an avid reader and listen to plenty of music besides.
When it comes to socialising I usually prefer a relatively quiet drink with friends, somewhere where conversation is possible, unless I'm going to see live music, in which case I look for anything, as long as instruments are involved.
I'm very interested in socio-political studies, I like the Simpson's, nature shows and the football (soccer) on T.V. (although would never impose it), and going out for lunch (when I can afford it).

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of blues, funk, soul, country, folk, hip hop, ska and reggae, rock'n'roll, Latin rock, and even a bit of metal. All sorts really. I'm a particular fan of b.b. king, Ray Charles, the rolling stones, van Morrison, sly and the family stone, Ian dury, I could go on. The point is I love music and couldn't list accurate favourites!
When it comes to films, my favourites are Withnail & I, Wayne's World, Alien, The Big Lebowski, In The Heat Of The Night, and more but I don't want to go on. Mostly comedies but a fan of most genres.
With books I mostly read novels, but do pick up some non-fiction now and then, mostly historic. My favourite writers are John Steinbeck, Milan Kunder, Haruki Murakami and Jack Kerouac.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently I swam off India's west coast at night during the equinox of the moon, as it (and you as you swam in it) became lit up by phosphorescent plankton, and was possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a guitar tutor and would be happy to impart whatever I can, as I simply love to teach the wonderful instrument and see more people playing it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a decent cook and more than happy to prepare meals. I would also be willing to play you songs (or not at all if that would go down better, I understand!) or teach you guitar if you'd like to learn.
