About Me

Hey I am Arthur. I am from the US and have lived on both coasts (New York and California). I like nature and exploring things that are often unseen/ out of the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best way to get to know a place is by meeting the people who live there.

I am on here to get a local's perspective of the in's and out's of their country and find what we have in common and our differences.

If you are able to visit me, I would like to show you some hidden spots, cool nature, local breweries, and the best places to eat.

Music, Movies, and Books

~~Books~~
I mostly read non-fiction. I like contemporary history in order to get a sense of what's going on in the world.

Then I like to add some fiction because it reflects the world just as much as non-fiction. For example 1984, Handmaiden's Tale, Oryx and Crake, Dune, Neuromancer, Blood Meridian...

~~Movies~~
I love classics, especially Paul Newman and Westerns (Clint Eastwood), police/crime movies, and modern independent films.

~~Music~~
I like lots of music: Country/Folk (Tyler Childers) to rap (Gucci Mane), psychedelic (Hendrix, Flying Lotus), funk (Curtis Mayfield), metal (Electric Wizard), and older Electronic (ATB).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite memories is winter backpacking in Pennsylvania. Having my boots freeze solid every night and thaw out late in the afternoon only to be wet all day, but it's all worth it to see the snow falling somewhere you have all to yourself.

Or walking through the aftermath of the fires in Yosemite backcountry and seeing the once great redwood trees turned into black toothpicks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can recommend cool places to visit in the USA and good restaurants in SF/LA/NYC.

Give perspective on the USA, especially as confusing as it is right now.

I love local farmers markets, and can buy interesting seasonal foods to cook and share.

I would also like to learn and do the same in your country.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope I can teach you something new or accompany you somewhere you have always wanted to go but haven't had the time yet.
