About Me

Hey, my name is Arta.

I`m hundred percent latvian by genes, but my soul is a mixture of everything - influenced by every place I’ve been to and by people I’ve met.

I`m active person, I have a spirit of adventure, can`t stay in one place for a long time, I have many hobbies and traveling is the most important of them. Also, love swimming, playing volleyball, riding a bike and meeting new people, having meaningful conversations and making unforgettable memories around the World. If I have something in my mind, no matter what - I will go for that!

Traveling and discovering, meeting and engaging with locals is my passion, my addiction.
But I have one issue.. I kinda hate it. I love everywhere I go. I fall in love with any place.

Me as a person - I see myself as the most easy going person..the most simple, yet with the absolute respect for myself, values and honest people.

I am fast-paced walker and love to discover places by walking. As well I count myself more as a morning person not a night owl.

I am eager to learn, to grow, to explore..to do anything what makes our life valuable and adventurous.

I’m not a crazy party person, I don’t smoke, use drugs and I have no other addiction than a coffee.

I prefer to be spontaneous instead of planning days ahead. I usually don`t even know what I will do tomorrow. I just pin the spots on googlemaps. Freedom and no time frame allows to visit unusual places and to have unforgettable experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don’t want to travel, I want to explore another country, I want to become a part of it. I don’t want to stay at fancy resorts and to go on the guided tours which normally bring you to the common tourist attractions. I want to integrate with locals and to have a neat experience. I want to discover places not written in “TOP things to do in...”, to see the places not instagrammed thousand times, I want to walk the roads known among the locals.

Since you realize or reach that point when traveling becomes more about the people you meet on the way rather than rushing to see the places, congrats, you are on the next level! For me it happened at the end of my South America trip, I had no more regrets not seeing some desired place. Instead I spent time with people I`ve just met and felt connected and it made me question myself - why I did not use CS already before?! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

"The Beach"

From the books I love P. Coelho and R. Sharma the most.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One is not enough, I have done many and still adding crazy adventures on my list..

Teach, Learn, Share

Traveling definitely has taught me to be more empathic, more grateful for what we have, to appreciate the little things and to realize how privileged we are. This is the real life school which no university could teach you.

The saddest part of traveling is leaving.. leaving a place you really loved or leaving a person you’ve met on the way and connected so well and traveled together.. But the most important part is being grateful for each moment and each new person in your life.
