About Me

Hey guys I'm Matis !

I'm a student in social sciences and I basically love to travel. I've been studying in Rennes and Paris the last 3 years but I'm currently living in Mexico. Also, I've been on a world trip last year with a friend, and I learned a lot about it.

I started to travel few years ago and I'm getting addicted, following the imprevisible rythm of htichhiking. I'm currently planning trips I dream about in Iran and central Asia, but also in Siberia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just really love and prefer to discover a place by people's way to teach my the place. I doesn't mean that I especially need or love to be adviced about all the good city spots, It's just about listening to your personnal experience of the city. It's for me the best way to understand a city or a country. It's also a way to meet people and have good times, instead of staying alone.

Interests

I would say that I really like to debate and talk about social issues. I like to point and understand the troubles of the place I visit, and it's clearly interesting to face the visions with people you meet during the trip.

Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that I am the so-serious guy who makes you feel bad talking about crazy topics while you just want to relax and enjoy your coffee :). I'm just open-minded and I love to hear about people's ideas and positions, and I also love to have fun and joke, listen to people's stories and share mines.

It's finally a question of adaptation. I just want to share good moments with people I meet, so if you feel talking, I would be a pleasure to have some time with you debating ; if you just need to relax and be cool, I also like to stay discreet and quite. *ps : I also really love to cook, I could spend hours in your kitchen preparing a so wtf-dish while listening some tekno or french rap - that's my sometimes silly hobby :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've spent 36 hours non-stop in a container in the dark in China while hitchhiking, smoking cigarettes and eating pears I had in a box - what a lovely time :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really fan of foreign languages, for their usefull aspect but also for the grammar itself, for all the connexions you can find between each language systems. If you're interested about learning some french, spanish, english, romanian, or even russian or persian (and even more a very little of croatian, arabic or indonesian), it would be a pleasure. I've discovered one day a guy called Josef Schovanec, he's an autist with Asperger's syndrom, and that guy is so incredible : he's psycologist, doctor in philosophy and he wrote tones of books about travelling and getting out of the autist bubble by travelling, it's very inspiring.

I coud also teach you to cook some dishes I love to do (not especially French dishes, it's sometimes really hard to find the good ingredients abroad), share muscis, books, stories, ideas, time and fun :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm currently travelling, so I can not host people for the moment. Next year, I would be in Mexico DF from september to december, probably sharing the rent with people (so the hosting options would also depend on my roomies) and probably in Oaxaca City from december to april (I would be easier for me to host people at that time).
