About Me
My girlfriend and I (Tayla) left New Zealand about 2 and a half years ago to travel and explore the wonders of Europe! NZ is so far away, so if you’re seeing Europe you’ve gotta be here for a long time!
During my travels I was hoping to find my passion, and to find what I want to do in life. We lived in Edinburgh for a year, and during our time there I found myself listening to a lot of radio, loving the banter that the hosts have with each other as well as people who are calling up. BOOM what do ya know I think I found my passion 😉 As fate would have it, the New Zealand school of radio was looking candidates for their scholarship, so I put my name forward and now have a scholarship that begins in Jan 2019!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people. The thing I love about travelling is meeting so many different people from all around the world. There’s nothing better than when you start talking about a place you’ve both been to, or even better if someone you’ve both met! I love small world stories.
And to be completely honest, I like having a roof over my head, comes as a bonus really!

Music, Movies, and Books
Massive mix of music. The old mans from England so I listened to a lot of deep purple and the who. I went through a pop punk stage when I was in my early teens, so Blink 182, Greenday, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte etc... Nowadays it’s really anything goes, although I am a massive fan of EDM (sorry basic I know but I love it.)
I love my movies. Hands down favourite is Inglorious Basterds, mind you any Tarantino film is amazing. A big fan of the marvel cinematic universe, any action films and I’ve always been a diehard Bond fan (my fave Bond would have to be Craig then Connery 🙌🏼)
Books, hmmm I don’t read. Never been able to get into a book, wish I could though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Arrgghhh I couldn’t pick one!
- road through the Sahara by camel
- got a police escort in Paris (don’t worry we didn’t do anything bad!)
- freedom camped in Budapest
- learnt to sail in Croatia
- worked on a booze cruise in Crete
- bungyjumped in NZ
- moved to the other side of the world!
- I’ll have to tell you more 🙌🏼
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn Spanish. Mind you I’d like to learn any other language, it sucks only being able to speak English. I’ve also got a basic knowledge of guitar, so any extra lessons would be welcome, would love to learn a few new songs! Other than that I’m pretty open to anything, always wanting to learn something new!
Teaching wise, I’ve always had a pretty good general knowledge of technology, so if you need any tips with your phone, internet, computer etc I’ll try my best to help! Otherwise if you have any questions about NZ I’ll be more than happy to help ya out!
