About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Host and couchsurf with some bright, sporty and adventurous people

ABOUT ME

If you read my profile and if you also look into what my CS-friends and guests say you will know more about me.
And if you're still wondering: yes: I love bananas and I climb trees - draw your own conclusions! :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Engage. Take responsibility. Do not talk : but DO. Share. Believe. Choose. Live simple. Avoid the crowds. Go for quality. Ideas that last, things that last. Avoid the emptiness of commercial, ever-changing "trends". Substance rather than surface. Details count. Allways question. Develop yourself to be better. Dare to be yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Please note: Do read what I have written under the "My Home"-tab carefully before you approach me.
I offer my place, my hospitality and my knowledge to others as a host - and I hope to experience the same with others when I am a Couchsurfer. The most rewarding thing is to talk, share, discuss and exchange: because there are allways new insights to understand and learning to be had. I also have had the time to be a guide, locally and in Oslo: this is allways a pleasure.
I have always invited strangers to the place I live. When I read about CS for the first time some years ago - it was obvious I should join! This is what I have done all my life....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience is extremely positive - and the basic idea of trusting a stranger and providing a comfortable place to sleep, a meal and an opportunity to meet and talk is decent and very civil.
A few people take my generosity for granted and expect me to pay their bills: which is immature and rude. Others make real efforts to contribute : this is super.

Interests

I am an architect: then you understand: design and built environment - and who is this HUMAN?
I do black and white photography and I write. I am a freelancer and a very independent-minded man. Books, art, ballet, films, classical music, people. The hidden patterns called culture. Political issues, history, art and applied science are among my interests.
Nature: get out and explore!
I believe it is a great and important thing to have a faith.
Physical: I do sports and I think it is important to keep this physical frame in which we alle live - in shape.
I have allways had strangers from different cultures, countries and backgrounds come and stay - and I allways think this is rewarding. I hope to extend this to many new people in CS.

Music, Movies, and Books

When and if you come: I have some things to say about this --- but more important: I have many items to show you and share with you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To make a picture that will stand the test of time is a great thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Bodycontrol is to be able to enjoy your breakfast - eating with your feet. Your hands are of course for gestures during conversation.

There is nothing as silent as the nocturnal run of the hare in the soft snow. In the morning I see the footprints outside the windows. I didn't hear a thing.

Do you sleep hanging by your ankles - upside down? I have to admit I envy you. Please tell me how you do it.

Do not shower with your high-heeled shoes on. Particularly the blue silk ones. Never forget.

When you come to stay: you bring your own Steinway D-274? Of course. And you play Chopin's Ballade no.1 Op. 23 so well I hardly hear anything that would differ from that of Horowitz at Carnegie Hall. Who cares to talk about travelling light - when you travel like that?

If I could spend a night: somewhere with someone: I'd spent it with the horses in the stable. If you have been there, you'd understand me.

There are few things as boring as entertainment.

So-called creative people are seldom that. Most just copy others.
